*PREVIEW* "Contemporary Conflagrations" new works by Leecifer @ Dragatomi 6/11/2011
Opening tonight in Sacramento at Dragatomi is "Contemporary Conflagrations", a new body of works from self proclaimed turd-polisher Leecifer! For this show Lee uses his vibrant color applications and universally recognizable signature style throughout numerous custom toys, and canvases as this show will feature over 45 pieces in total! Dragatomi will also have on hand a limited release of the Lee's "Propane" Honoo in Dragatomi Blue.
One thing that always grabs my attention about Lee's work is the consistency... his dry-brushing techniques have been mastered over the years so no matter what platform he tackles his body of work stays in tact, making every Leecifer piece added to your collection that much more special! This show is opening TONIGHT June 11th 2011 and will run until July 19th. Be sure you stop by as Leecifer will be in attendance tonight, and if you can't make it click the link HERE to see all the pieces for this show, and to make a purchase!

*PREVIEW* Hurley's "AWESOME" with Skinner, Martin Ontiveros, Scrappers & Bwanna Spoons

Last night after the Toy Art Gallery show, we started our trek back down to San Diego with a 3 hour drive, but that was broken up with a quick stop in to see Bwana Spoons, Justin "Scrappers" Morrison, Martin Ontiveros, and Skinner as they were putting up the finishing touches on their EPIC art show dubbed "AWESOME"... and that it was!!! Upon entering the GIGANTIC... in fact it's 30' tall by 260' around Hurley "H Space Gallery" you are truly taken back by the sheer size that this gallery space is, not to mention all the work that these 4 artists have done over the past 5 days.

*RECAP* Toy Art Gallery's "Open Call Resin Toy Juried Show" 6/10/2011
Last night Toy Art Gallery played host to their first annual (of hopefully many more) "Open Call Resin Toy Juried Show"! This show was an open call for any and all artists/toymakers with an original resin toy, all of which entered their pieces for a chance to win some fantastic prizes! The day started out early as I was one of the 5 judges asked to judge the pieces for the show. Along with myself TAG asked Jeremy Brautman (jeremyriad.com), Ayleen & George Gaspar (toybreak.com), and Julie B. (prettyinplastic.com), to critique each and every one of the entries in 5 different categories... which was a super daunting task and ended up taking all of us over 2 hours to complete, and in fact we finished just in time before the show opened!
As the doors opened people began to flow into the gallery and were thoroughly impressed with the craftsmanship on the majority of the pieces. There were 3 tiers apparent to me when looking at the pieces, ones that were immaculately designed and almost production like, others that were just about up to that quality, just needed to be more polished, and others that just seemed rushed, and not very polished at all... and in all honesty should really not have been entered... but all of this is expected with an open call and needless to say it was cool to see every single one of these pieces under one roof! As the night wrapped up, the votes were tallied and the top 4 spots were announced! Coming in 3rd place was a beautiful clear totem resin piece by C-Toys named "Ra", 2nd place was given to Paul Kaiju's amazingly well crafted and designed "King Jinx", and 1st place went to the perfect production like "Cosmic Hobo" from Arbito... amazing! Lastly there was an honorable mention and that was given to GUF of Tattoo Royale's piece "Gummi Larry"... very well deserved! You gotta hit the jump for more pictures and please enjoy the video above :-)

MCA's "Fleabaine" teaser from Plastic City
So we have seen teasers of both pieces from Jermaine Rogers and Josh Taylor for Plastic City's upcoming figure series release, and today we are pleased to bring you a nice WIP teaser pic of MCA's "Fleabaine"! As you can see it's still a very rough WIP, but it just screams classic MCA style... this is going to be a fun figure for sure!

Chris Ryniak x Ferg x Munky King 5" Misfortune Cat SDCC 2011 exclusive!
From one all black figure to another... here we go with something we have been following the progress of for quite some time now and it has finally come to fruition! Back in February we posted up HERE a very revealing vinyl test pull of Chris Ryniak x Ferg’s 5" tall micro Misfortune Cat which was based off Chris' custom for the "Reconstructing Misfortune" show last year at Munky King! Then this past April we saw quick teaser HERE of the same figure in a very blurry state, and now today we are getting a look at the full reveal of Chris' matte black with glossy accents vinyl mini-Misfortune cat! This really cool figure is going to be a Munky King SDCC 2011 exclusive, will be limited to only 100 pieces, and will retail for just $45... oh, and check out that eye, it glows in the dark... sooo cool! This is going to be a HUGE hit at SDCC this year, so start saving up on paitience because your going to need it for the long line that awaits this release.
