Up close and personal with Dunny 2011 - Full Series, with mystery figure info, and special Aya Kakeda Dunny

Wow... it seems as though it is a Dunny type of day, and this new Dunny 2011 series is looking mighty fine. In this post we are getting a look at pretty much the entire series... even a special Dunny (to the left) that Aya Kakeda designed called "Hole in the Middle" which is based off the new children's book by Paul Budnidtz and illustrated by Aya, and as luck would have it... he has a hole in the middle... cool! Both Paul and Aya will be at KRNY for the Dunny release along with said book signing! Onto the picture above... click on it to really get a close look at those figures, KR did a fantastic job with all the small details... shoot, that gumball Dunny who I think is by Mister Fame$'s actually has mini gumballs in the head... soooo cool! With packaging created by MAD, it's really minimal in nature and lends it's focus to the giant Dunny wearing bling around his neck! Now to the mystery build-a-dunny... upon further inspection of the packaging the little gold starburst reveals all that we need to know about this said figure "Secret mystery parts included! Collect all the KRONK bones and complete the set!" So from the sound of it, Kronk designed a possible skeleton type Dunny figure that is in pieces, and once you get all the pieces forms one larger figure! What a seriously cool idea and brings me back to the trading card days where you would have to match up the backs of cards to make one large image!

Can a Sasquatch and a Logger be friends????

The answer is... of course they can, and to prove it the folks over at Invisible Creature recently teamed up with Super7 to produce and bring "Salvatore and George" to life. These two characters are the lovable mascots for Sasquatch! Music Festival’s 10 year anniversary. Salvatore stands 4″ tall while George packs a TON of detail into an impressive 2″. They come as a set, and until now were only available at the festival, but can be picked up via the IC website HERE for a mere $20... seriously, how can you not buy these little guys!

Up close and personal with Dunny 2011 designs from Huck Gee, DrilOne, and Travis Lampe

Ready for another high-res photos of some great designs from the upcoming Dunny 2011 series... yeah me too... and this go around we get to enjoy pieces from Huck Gee, DrilOne, and Travis Lampe. One of the first things to not about this series is that it contains two chainsaw wielding figures, the Mishka one, and the Huck Gee zombie hunter one above... does this bother me... not at all :-) Also to note, Huck's submissions were created as a set... just look at the zombies hand stuck on the hunter's ear... EPIC! Next in this photo is the rad gas mask wearing Dunny by DrilOne... and how rad is that, they captured Dril's style soooooo well, and it's cool for those collectors who bought custom's from Dril in the same design vein as this late last year! Next up is another newcomer to the Dunny platform as Travis Lampe takes his simplistic illustrative nature, with his patented swooping block nose, and applied it to the Dunny... really making his mark with this beautiful design... and I have a feeling this may quickly become a fan favorite of the series... speaking of, which one do you like?

Up close and personal with Dunny 2011 designs from 64Colors, MAD, Mishka, and Kronk

Posted up earlier today was the announcement of Dunny 2011... which came with some lo-res hard to see photos... but now we are getting a look at some of the designs in their hi-res beauty... as they were meant to be seen! First up is 64Colors amazing woodland creature Dunny that comes with a cool wooden staff accessory, next up is the elusive (up until now) Mishka chase Dunny... if you want to call it that, no ears here :-) but this all seeing eyeball comes equiped with one sweet chainsaw! Along with those is Kronk's highly detailed Dunny that looks like it winds up, and last by not least is the Zombie biker by MAD... what a crazy cool head sculpt, and that bright green tongue is looking very familiar :-) The more I see em all, the more I dig em... I would love to know your thoughts!!!

3A Brillo Squares... first teasers released

It's no secret artist Ashley Wood has a love of Andy Warhol, Warhol is featured prominently in his Popbot comic's, so it should come as no surprise that he would pay tribute to the man with one of his most beloved creations 3A's Squares. The sqaures are part of Ashley's WWR (World War Robot) storyline but Ash is often fond of inserting his bots into various storyline so it's not clear if these will be part of a known universe or simple stand apart. The "Brillo" Square is a popular artform of Warhols and is a classic piece of modern art, so it's a great pleasure to see Ashley take the design and reinterpret it into a toy form. The "Brillo Square" from 3A shown above will be will indeed have legs and is rumored to be available at SDCC at Toy Tokyo booth. 3A partners Ashley and Kim will be on hand to sign the header cards that will grace the packaging for these little guys. "Brillo Square" will be in 1:12 scale, no word on pricing yet.

It's interesting to see these finally being made as they were first mentioned on the 3A forums early 2010 as a possible design for the 1:1 squares that were made for the Beijing Show. They were never seen at the time but most people figured they'd pop up again and I'm sure many fans are happy at the chance to score these at Comicon.

Kronk's 20" massive "Killjoy" Dunny

Whoa check this out... Kidrobot just dropped a bomb via the KRonikle today as they just revealed the next 20" Dunny design which was created by South African artist Kronk! This Dunny dubbed "Killjoy" is completely the opposite of what the name implies, and in my honest opinion may be the best 20"er made to date. Normally I am not a fan of gloss, but this finish gives the particular design a very polished porcelain look... very classy indeed! This beast is limited to only 350 pieces worldwide and will be available at the end of this month beginning June 30 for $400!
