Tixinda + Sarukaku rad custom "XAGU's"

There is nothing quite like some superior done custom work and that is what we found when we saw the group of custom "XAGU's" created by Anabel Vanoni and Eric Morales of TIXINDA. These figures originally produced by fellow countrymen Alimana Toys, have been heavily sculpted, and painted on to create some seriously fierce looking figures... the photography of these really makes them pop as well... so cool! Each one of these figures has a really cool backstory and can be found HERE, and for more projects from these two visit their website HERE.

Plaseebo's "MOLEZILLA" is on Kickstarter

We just got word from Bob Conge of Plaseebo that he is starting up a Kickstarter project to get funding to make his super creepy cool "MOLEZILLA" figure! This originally started with a pretty intense back-story where Bob created the prototype of this figure and made a few highly limited resin pieces from it... that being said, he wanted to see this get produced for more to enjoy and at a reasonable price... one of the cool things Bob is doing with this project though is if fully funded will be one of the first vinyl figures to be made entirely here in the USA... by newcomers Veracious Vinyl. There are all kinds of tiers for every budget getting you some really neat incentives. Visit the Kickstarter site HERE and for additional info with photos of said pledge rewards, click HERE!

It's May... heck it's already halfway through the month and Paul over at the Stitches and Glue studio has been hard at work on a multitude of projects, and today we get to see some of them! To kick things off, Paul has created a new Bespoke handmade creature named "Dulo". This red furry monster stands 15" x 26"x 11" and is the most sophisticated designer plush from Stitches and Glue to date as he has a fully posable head and armatured tail/arms. Limited to just three pieces, and along with many other new works, will be featured at the fast approaching, Open Studio event, at Cockpit Arts in Holborn 10-12 of June. Pick him up HERE now!

Up next is some exciting news ore news as Paul was approached by Nikki Lockwood of Cranleigh School, Surrey, to produce some 'Monster' puppets for their up coming show 'The Odyssey', adapted by Hattie Naylor. The results are the three headed dog, Cyclops, Cloth man, and bird puppets. According to Paul this project had an extremely quick turnaround of three weeks, where the puppets were made with great attention to detail and included a movable jaw and glowing eye on the cyclops... friggen awesome work!!! Stay tuned for more updates in the coming few weeks!

Limited edition "SEA HUNTER" print by VISEone

I remember the tragic news about VISEone's friend and artist Ralph Ferres, as he passed away last year in a car accident. Ralph was the visionary behind the "SEA HUNTER" figure that was subsequently released through PATCH TOGETHER... well now in remembrance of Ralph, VISEone has decided to release the "SEA HUNTER" as a print in a very limited run for a limited time. The print measures 420 x 590 mm - unframed and it is up for grabs HERE for around $70 which includes shipping. This is limited to only 41 pieces and a portion of the profits will be given to his just born nephew which he never had the chance to meet... so go snag one up now.

Luke Chueh & kaNO for "Getting BIG" Sharky show

Opening this Friday, May 20th at the Toy Tokyo Underground Gallery is Keithing of ToyQube's giant Sharky show titled "Getting BIG"... which today we have reveals of both Luke Chueh and kaNO's submissions for this show. First up is Luke's rad 36" tall fiberglass beast titled "SHARKY FIN SOUP", and as you can see from the image above, Luke took a very simplistic approach to the paint scheme keeping it very true to form. The striking part about this custom is the cut off fin, with is sitting in a bowl of blood, or should I say a bowl of Shark Fin Soup which is a popular soup item of Chinese cuisine usually served at special occasions. You can draw your own conclusions from this one... a bold statement nonetheless, and really great execution!

Up next is kaNO's submission for this show as he turned his giant 36" fiberglass Sharky into a Air Jordan 5 sneaker model he is calling "Air Sharky". I had been following the process of this piece and I am floored at how clean the lines are on it, as he used masking and spray paint for the majority of this figure... no brush strokes, nice and smooth! kaNO did a really great job turning this once organic shape into what you see above... and best of all it works really well! Be sure to head on out this Friday to see these pieces as well as many others in person!

"Feed Me!" custom Ghost Girl by BabyVtec

Today we have another great custom to showcase for the upcoming G40 Art Summit being hosted by Art Whino on Thursday, May 19th 2011! This custom Ghost Girl created by BabyVtec is titled "Feed Me!", and for obvious reasons as she cut open what used to be the face and turned it into a gaping mouth filled with peppermint candies! One of the things that stands out about this piece is the added 3D sculptural elements like the flourishes and the type... it's very cleanly done and the color scheme really makes this customs aesthetically pleasing! For more pictures hit up Angie's Flickr HERE and please come on out to see this as well as many other great pieces in DC this week!
