Designer Toy Awards @ SDCC 2011
I had heard about this for some time now, and I am really happy that all the pieces fell into place as Clutter Magazine just announced the first annual International Designer Toy Awards (DTA) - Hosted in San Diego, California during SDCC 2011. All I can say is that's it's about time. There are so many aspects in the design world that have been based off of, or have started from because of designer vinyl toys... so why not put those designs, designers, companies up on stage and honor them for their hard work and dedication to the design industry! This will develop over the next few months, and I will keep you up to date with specific details and deadlines, and in the meantime head on over to the Designer Toy Awards website HERE, and SIGN UP now to start nominating companies, artists, collections, and even blogs (*cough SpankyStokes.com cough*) you can also stay privy to all that's happening.

Vannen X Godmachine - "Tempus" XL designer watch
There really isn't much to say about this except... SWEET!!!! We told you that Vannen designer watches had to put one project on hold, and bumped their collaboration with UK artist Godmachine up... but wow are they moving quick, as you can see from the above teaser. What hides behind that all black bag... only time will tell, but what we do know is that the title of this limited edition timepiece is "Tempus" and is going to be part of the Vannen XL watch line. Look for more teasers to follow soon, as this has a launch date of May 5th... I can't wait to see more!!!!

Thinkspace Gallery Promo "Ghost of a Chance" solo show featuring Kevin Titzer
We just got word from artist Kevin Titzer that he he will be having an awesome solo show launching on May 24th - June 4th at Thinkspace Gallery! To help promote it, he is releasing a series of video promo teasers... and above are the first two in a series of six. Most of the stuff Kevin uses is found and recycled materials, where his figures are carved out of wood that he finds on river banks. They have a very nostalgic, carnival, creepy feel to them... all the while dragging you in to inspect each and every fine detail of these amazing puppet like creations. Enjoy, and for more info, view our past posts on his cool work HERE.

Arts Unknown - "William, Henry & Reginald" by Kozik
It's alot of fun to remember seeing sketches/concepts of a figure and then forgetting about that said figure until one day it pops up again as a prototype getting ready to be released. This is the case with Arts Unknown the new UK-based art toy company founded by art enthusiasts Paul Delfgou & Daniel Kohn. We last heard from them in August of 2010, and now just reveled via his facebook page, Frank Kozik shares with us his figures in full 3D... "William, Henry & Reginald" an unassuming trio of Elephant, Bird and Rhino (who stands 8" tall) as they set out to explore the ancient ruins of La-Er. Franks states that this group is slated to release 3rd Quarter 2011, so for all you Kozik fans out there... you have something to look forward to... something different from Kozik I might add, and I just love these two characters. Also according to Paul of Arts Unknown there will be a chase version, William the rhino comes with a classic Kozik cigarette for alternate display, there is an exclusive Members colorway only available to people who have signed up to the Arts Unknown Membership Program, which there are only a handful of places remaining. More details will be revealed as they develop!

Sketchbot V3 Debuts 4/22 @ TOYSTREET NYC
Hey kids, there is a rumor spreading around that pink is the new black... now I don't know how true that is, especially in this case since the color is magenta, but I can tell you that I am really diggin on this new Sketchbot variant :-) Spotted at last year's SDCC, this semi-translucent magenta tint Sketchbot is packed and ready to roll out at tomorrow's Toy Street convention in NYC, and comes armed with with a really cool ink pen accessory and matching sticker. The price has not been revealed just yet, but if the past 2 releases are any indication this one will be $35. Stop by and pick one up, and say hi to Steve!
