Artist Edition Yo-Yo #8 by Dan May
It's been a long time... far too long actually since we have seen an artist edition Yo-Yo from the Steve Brown Gallery, well... that dry streak is over as they have just announced #8 in this limited edition series of artist Yo-Yo's. This time they teamed up with New York based artist Dan May, featuring a really great illustration of a timid beast! Just like the previous releases these amazing designs are laser engraved into a nice maple blank from YoYo Factory. This release is going to be limited to only 30 pieces worldwide, and will never be manufactured again. These are set to drop this Thursday, April 28h, 2011 at 1pm EST for only $15 a pop, so set your alarms, mark you calendars, tie a ribbon around your finger so you remember this is going down, because just like the previous releases, this will sell out without a doubt!

ZacPac's S"K"UM-kun "Stay Gold" edition
Do you all remember when Japanese based toy shop ZacPac needed help naming their first vinyl figure, and ended up with S"K"UM-kun... well, it's been a while since we have heard from them and today they are proud to announce and reveal their very first vinyl toy... S"K"UM-kun! Above is the full painted sample of the upcoming 1st colorway, titled "Stay Gold" which stands 9.5" tall and is designed/sculpted by Knuckle from Little Chop Design. This vinyl figure is being made in Japan, so you know the quality is going to be great and the best part IMHO about this figure is that it comes with a fitted 4 1/4 New Era mini cap... sooo cool! These are slated to be on sale mid May... so stay tuned for more details as they develop.

"GAMAN" figure from Sam Griffiths
The last time we had heard from artist Sam Griffiths was when we did the interview with him on his epic resin figure named "JURA" from Planet Domu... well today we are pleased to be bringing all the readers of SS.com a special 1-off custom that sam just completed for the upcoming "Kaiju For Japan" art fundraiser which is launching this Friday, April 22nd at 4:00pm EST HERE... and wow did he go all out! This piece titled "Gaman" resembles a walking alien like mountain where Sam says "Gaman is a collective term given to the organisms that populate the landscape of Planet Domu" (read the full background by clicking through). This beast of a figure started out as a sketch and ended up being 15" tall, made from super sculpey over an aluminum and wood frame. It weighs almost 6 lbs, and according to Sam took over 50 hours, and two trips to the doctor (for chest pains, panic attacks) to complete... crazy Brit :-) I'm not going to say all that work was worth his health, but boy did this turn out fantastic! Like mentioned before it's going up for sale HERE on Friday with 100% of the profits going to benefit earthquake and tsunami relief for Japan! Hit the jump to read the full story on this fantastic creation!
The story of Gaman:
Gaman is a collective term given to the organisms that populate the landscape of Planet Domu, Literally. Huge, living mountain mothers giving birth to the entire landscape of Planet Domu. The life cycle of a Gaman is a complex one that not only affects, but shapes the entire surface of Planet Domu. When the invaders came to the planet surface, Gaman’s began to rise from the earth in great numbers. Never before had the indigenous Womo’s seen such mass exodus of the Gaman’s. Clearly they were enraged by the hordes that were descending and waging war upon their peaceful lands.
Eternally linked through strong emotional bonds, the Gaman are constantly aware of all that transpires above the ground in which they dwell. When a great disturbance is felt, the Gaman will heave their ancient bodies to the surface in order to save the lands that rest upon their colossal shoulders.
In a mass evacuation, the Gaman have risen, and with their rising the landscape of Planet Domu shall forever be changed. As the battles rage and great swathes of Planet Domu are lost forever in the fiery turmoil of an epic war, the noble Gaman press onward, out of the smouldering landscape and dust clouds of oblivion towards clear skies. The constant bombardment of their subterranean home only serves to galvanise their spirit and strengthen their resolve.
Now as the fields burn and the seas boil, the Gaman raise their heads and march proudly towards the great plains, their birth place, their origin, to dig in and face their foe with the courage and determination of the mighty gods they were born of.....

"Kill Spiki" vs. "Panda Mo88" by Nakanari
Hot off our post about the Quentin vs. Coen show coming soon to the Art Spoke gallery... Nakanari shows us his love for Kill Bill as he created a couple custom MAD*l's dubbed "Kill Spiki" vs. "Panda Mo88", which by the way if you have not got the coloration yet are from the Kill Bill movies. These turned out super slick, and unfortunately for all of us these two are spoken for, but we can still bask in the glory that is these customs :-) Great work Tony, as always!

Skinner x Lulubell "Ultrus Bog" teaser/video/details
Well after countless days of speculation, back and forth, possible legal action... we finally have an official teaser from the man himself Skinner! He has once again tasked 'I am the fourth' (Walter Parenton) to create an awesome promo video celebrating the release of his first vinyl figure... The Kaiju Lord, "Ultrus Bog"! This beast is being sculpted by Siccaluna Koubu of Japan, and produced by the great folks over at LuLuBell Toy Bodega, and is going to be 10" tall!!!!
Although we have not seen the sculpture yet, the video gives way to what we had speculated before... a full bodied figure, covered in skulls, and shrouded by death, and thanks to Lulubell we have a little sneak to the left of the beginning parts of this character...EPIC! They also are revealing that there will be four exclusive pre-sale packages will go up for sale one week from today on 4.27 at noon Pacific. Packages will range from $20 to $500, starting with an exclusive t-shirt, and ending with a super exclusive 6 figure set package. Package details and links will be posted Friday, April 22nd at Noon. More to come on this, but how sick is this video!!!! I can't wait to see the full figure now!

The third installment of Ron English's "Figment" bust
In art school one is taught that good art evokes emotion... good, bad, indifferent, you want the viewer of said art to "feel" something. That being said, the newest colorway of Ron English's "Figment" bust looks really bad, and the colors... even though complimentary, do not compliment this at all. Inspired by the flowing hair, and iconic art of artist Andy Warhol, this 13" tall, 10" deep, and 9" figure is going to release at this years Toy Street in New York where Ron will be in attendance. I personally dug the first colorway (metallic green/silver) that was released at Comic-Con last year, the second version (pink/white) was alright, but this one is doing nothing for me... then again whoever is choosing the colorways might be playing off the "Warhol" aspect of crazy color combos. There is no word on how many will be available or how much they will retail for, but if the others are any indication, these will probably be around the $200 mark!

Little Axe "Butcher" from Erick Scarecrow
All we have seen of this figure has been teasers, but today Erick Scarecrow not only revealed the entire piece, but he put a limited amount of this figure up in his online store! This release of his Little Axe "Butcher" edition is limited to only 20 pieces, and this two figure resin set comes with one Bloody Little Axe, Bloody Wolf head and new Skullara Axe. Each figure comes signed, numbered and packaged by Erick, and are up HERE now for $350! I really dig this character from Erick, the sculpt itself is really nice and is a little more darker in nature than the majority of his cutesy characters... and I like dark :-) Great stuff man, and keep the goods rollin... or should I say keep them heads rollin hahaha!
The story of Little Axe "Butcher":
"Little Axe's encounter with the Wolf proved to be a surprising one. During their fight, the Wolf removed his left eye and placed it in his mouth. This technique enabled him to see Little Axe's weakness but what he saw was far more shocking that he froze in disbelief. Her true identity was in view. This revelation provided an opening which Little Axe used to seal the Wolf's fate. Upon collecting the Wolf's head, her hood absorbed his blood and she regained her strength. Whenever she became hungry, she fed. Who can stop her?"
