This website is about any and everything that sparks the creative genius in all of us. By profession I am a Graphic Designer, and enjoy all aspects of design. From traditional to urban from resin to vinyl, these are all great mediums and deserve to be explored. On top of that everything from music to movies from guns to graffiti.
Dragatomi is hosting a new show this coming Saturday, March 12th titled "For the Love of Vinyl" which features customs on the Symbiote vinyl platform by 25 talented artists, designers, and customizers from all over the world... and today we are getting a look at the piece submitted by artist Jesse Y. aka J★RYU which is titled "I Waited Here For You... But You Never Came". Jesse took an approach to this piece, like he does to most of his customs, by completely re-working it to almost no recognition of the piece it started out as... I swear there is a Symbiote under there :-)
This custom actually gave Jesse one heck of a time, and if you watch the video above you will see some of the roadblocks he ran into... like the first globe breaking. He used epoxy, polymer clay, polyester resin, glass, dried moss, acrylics and installed a working light and water feature... crazy right?!?! He even tried his hand at molding and casting on this project... all that hard work really paid off in the end, as this is truly an astounding piece of work.
It's so fun to see new designs pop up from artists we have covered on SS.com before, and today we are getting a look into Joe Merrill aka Splurrt's latest resin figure, the "Diggler". These cyclptic creatures are cast in brown resin and stand a little over 3.5" tall with articulation at the neck and are set to release this Sunday, March 5th at 12:00 Noon EST! There will be two versions available during the first release the "Jungle" edition which is limited to 4 pieces, and the "Primitive" edition which is limited to only 3 pieces... both pieces will retail at $42 a piece and can be picked up HERE!
The first series of Travis Cain's "Best Friends Forever" was a huge hit from Kidrobot... and doing what any business would do if you have a successful product you release a second series... and that is exactly what they are gonna do. This series pairs up new frenemies with 16 blind-boxed styles that include some really fun designs. These are slated to release for $7.95 in Kidrobot stores, kidrobot.com, and specialty stores on March 17th.
