Opening Tonight: 'Monster Party' @ Dragatomi with Mark Nagata, Gatchabert, LilJapan, and D-LuX

Sacramento is a'buzz today as the launch of "Monster Party", a 4 man group show is eminent! This show is going to feature tons of new work from Mark Nagata, Gatchabert, LilJapan, and D-LuX. This massive kaiju communion is being hosted by the great folks over at Dragatomi and promises to deliver copious amounts of eye candy from some of the top toy customizes around. Opening Tonight: Alex Pardees' “Vertigo: A Decade of Hunting Nightmares” @ Corey Helford 1/8/2011

Corey Helford Gallery is proud to open 2011 with “Vertigo: A Decade of Hunting Nightmares”, by Alex Pardee... which is his most ambitious art exhibition to date. In his first solo at Corey Helford Gallery, Alex is set to unveil the art of capturing nightmares with a collection of thirteen acrylic-on-cradled wood panel paintings, which are physical representations of darkly intense dream-state visions in the unique Pardee style.

Each painting is accompanied by a framed document chronicling the nightmare’s history, as related by world-famous nightmare hunter, Verti Parker, who inspired Pardee to create the exhibition. Also on display throughout the gallery will be a series of artifacts and evidence from the famous nightmare hunter’s archive, including the actual music box he used to exorcise nightmares from patients, as well as an eight-foot taxidermy monster from Verti’s very first nightmare hunt. The reception for “Vertigo” is open to the public and will take place on Saturday, January 8 from 7 to 10pm. The show will be on view until January 26, 2011.

A Wheelbarrow with talent.... and a mustache

So not that I got your attention with he headline, I bet your wondering what a Wheelbarrow or even a mustache has to do with anything... well if you know Ryan aka The Wheelbarrow who works for Kidrobot, you will know that the name and mustache go hand in hand... but I digress. Ryan has been focusing on his own art lately and has created a series of smokin hot custom Dunnys that he is calling the "WE_RDO / TY_PO" series. This set of Dunnys features some super rare cream colored factory samples he acquired (he knows a guy, haha) where he used an old Chartpak and Letraset rub on velvet text... similar to Polaroid transfers. He utilized his love and passion for typography and applied it to the surface of these fugues with the result... being awesome. *RECAP* MPH presents: 'Rare Breed' featuring Angry Woebots, Scribe and kaNO 01/07/2011

Last night, Friday, January 7th 2011, all our east coast peeps were treated to an awesome opening night at myplasticheart as they played host to a three man group show featuring the the super talented works from Angry Woebots, Scribe and kaNO titled 'Rare Breed'! As you can see from he above pictures, thanks to MPH, the show was a hit... tons of people turned out, a lot of pieces were picked up... and wow were there some awesome pieces!

The show featured new work from each artist including traditional paintings as well as toys, and exclusive releases. One of the really cool things about this show is that Woebots and kaNO made the trip from LA for the opening reception as they chopped it up with their fans! If you did not make it out... no worries as the show will be on display until February 6th, 2011 and MPH will be posting up the remaining pieces from the show that did not sell so be sure to check their site very soon to snag up some one-of-a-kind OG art pieces!

"This is The Year" at Paper Boy in Chicago!

Paper Boy is hosting an exhibition of the work of Britton Walters entitled “This is The Year!” The opening was last night... Friday, January 7 that featured a special party open to the public. The show itself featured mixed media drawings from Mr. Walters’ 4x6x365 (MMX) series, along with select prints. Since 2005, Mr. Walters has been producing a drawing measuring 4” x 6” every single day, and the 4x6x365 (MMX) group is of the daily drawings from 2010. The show will be up until February 2nd, so be sure to make it out to see the mass of works in person!

"Galaxxor 002" resin robo release info...

Galaxxor the monster hunting resin robo toy created by Ben Spencer of Nerd City Online and produced by Marty Hansen aka The Godbeast is onto it's second resin run and this 5.5" action figure-style is hand cast in black light reactive translucent crystal clear resin, features 2 points of articulation and comes packed in a traditional bag and header style with exclusive header card art by Steve Seeley. This figure is limited to an edition of 5 and will never be produced in this colorway ever again. Galaxxor 002 will be available for $90 each on 01.17.11 at noon CST, exclusively from The Galaxxor Online Store.
