WHAT'S NEW

It's time to get chummy with "Chums"

Spurred on by their love for designer vinyl the folks over at Union design have decided to take their love to a whole new level and jump in feet first to the vinyl game as they have created a new figure they are calling "Chums"... and what better way to get this rollin then to kick it off with a little Kickstarter campaign. They are looking to get this project completely funded by the fans and that's where you come in. This 4" tall opened mouth shark doubles as a desk mate that can hold pretty much anything... as displayed in the video and photos below, making it functional, but one concern I have heard from many people in the community is why ask 25K for this project... well I went and asked not only the people behind this figure why, but also a few people who are versed in the industry if this is reasonable.

According to Eric from this project he states that The $25k funding requirement is taking the following this into consideration: 3k Metal Mold Cost, 2000 unit production run, 200 LE paint job, 1800 Standard paint, 2000 units of packaging, Estimated 200 concept art prints, Estimated 10 Artists commissions for Special Edition paint jobs, and US shipping costs, not to mention all the fees that Kickstarter and Yahoo takes. Now most have inherently heard that producing a vinyl figure is around 8k-10k which is totally true... just for the figure! Now according to our source (who wishes to remain anonymous) you have to take into consideration current dollar value, oil prices, if they're working direct with factory or a middle man, and shipping costs... so give or take a few grand this price is pretty accurate to produce a vinyl figure. Long story short, these guys need your help getting this cool figure produced, if you dig it support them HERE, and know that all the money raised will be put towards this project!
