*RECAP* JAY222's "Big Trouble in Little China" tribute show @ Dragatomi 4/09/2011

Curated by the super talented artist Jay222, and hosted by the great folks over at Dragatomi in Sacramento... April 9th, 2011 payed tribute to one of the greatest films of all time, John Carpenter's 1986 classic "Big Trouble in Little China" where 30+ artists reinterpreted the characters, scenes and classic moments through not only sculptural pieces and custom toys but also prints, mixed media and a ton of traditional paintings. There was a great mix of everything and the gallery was setup in a way that flowed very well and did not over crowd the pieces... giving them all equal weight and value.

Needless to say, as the pictures speak for themselves... the show was electric!!! Everyone who came out, fans, patrons, passers by and artists alike made this show so much fun, and I feel super fortunate to have been there for it. All the work was top notch... I mean some of the best work I have ever seen in person and all that is thanks to the hard work of Jay222 who's charming personality brought out the masses including tons of artists who also participated in the show like Dave Correia, Alex Pardee, TaskOne, Leecifer, Jay222, Skinner, Brad Isdrab, Dan Fleres, Lucien Shapiro, Mark Nagata, Wayshak, Mikie Graham, and probably many others. And the best part... there were red dots popping up all over the place, but there are still some STELLAR pieces up for grabs right now, so head on over to Dragatomi HERE and browse the great collection and don't forget to hit the jump for a full photo slide show. Thanks for the memories Sacramento, it was a blast and I can't wait until my next trip!
