Troy Stith's 20" custom "Bodhi" Qee

Gearing up for the week ahead, and the massive art onslaught that is Art Basel, Troy Stith was one of the few artists invited to participate in the "Qee to the City" show at the Multiversal Group show during Art Basel Miami. He was tasked to customize a giant 20" Qee and he did exactly that... creating this once large vinyl figure into a steel mountain of wonder and mystery!

Titled "Bodhi", Troy says that "There's a lot of hidden meaning in the details in him. From the skulls, to the trees, and even the beak and bear combo I left him at. All of which have to do with the attainment of knowledge from the carnal world to the chamber of higher thought." If you look closely there is a path that wraps around the entire piece that leads up into the geode filled head that reveals a meadow with trees and a spring... insane details and I am sure that much more impressive in person.

The backstory:
"The Temple of Bodhi is revered as one of the most sacred sites in Tu'R'Land. Only the strongest in mind and body can make the trip to the top. It's said that most that make it to the top, are never seen again. Those who do return, spread the word of knowledge and social progress. Hoping to help change the minds of those who have given in to Mafic's tirade."

"Mafic knew that the Temple of Bodhi stood in his way of conquering Tu'R'Land, so he sent his dark minion Bedlam to do his dirty work. Striking a blow that reverberated across the land. Mafic's henchman not only desecrated holy ground, he awakened the slumbering temple giant Bodhi. Upon Bodhi's awakening, Bedlam fled to tell his master of the giant's awakening. Taking the ear of Bodhi with him to prove that he had not failed Mafic. Bodhi now searches the land for those responsible for destroying his temple and awakening him from years of deep meditation. Adding another member of light to battle against Mafic and his dark quest."

"Mr. Sparkle" custom Homer Simpson Qee by Mikie Graham revealed at Dcon

This last weekend at Dcon Toy2R unveiled its new DIY format the 8" DIY Homer Simpson Qee. To celebrate, Toy2R asked 7 customizers to work their magic on the new platform. Long time customizer and uber Simpsons dork, Mikie Graham from Blamo Toys was lucky enough to be asked to participate. Inspired by the Simpsons episode #175 "In Marge We Trust" where Homer finds a Japanese dish detergent box with HIS face on it, Mikie decided to create "Mr Sparkle" Homer... quite possibly the first Mr Sparkle figure EVER. Created using a combination of hand sculpting and airbrush painting techniques, this custom uses the figure's exaggerated form to its fullest. The figure's massive head is now a floating Japanese mascot spitting out his nonsensical catch phrase onto his pearlized slogan covered body. Mikie even went as far as to hand paint the hilarious "fish bulb" logo on the back of the figure, a truly geektastic "in joke" for all die hard Simpsons fans.

Mr Sparkle is a permanent part of the Homer Qee custom tour and will be traveling with Toy2R, showing at conventions and trade shows all over the world. Because of this, he is currently not available for sale but Mikie is always open for commission work. If you would like to talk to Mikie about re-creating this figure for your collection.... or any other custom ideas you may have, feel free to email him at: zombiemonkie@hotmail.com

How "REMARK"able is this custom 20" Dunny from Rotobox for Art Basel?

Spencer & Stephen Ong of Rotobox Vinyl Anatomica have just finished up their massive 20" custom Dunny for the upcoming 'Art Assault' Gibson Charity Show at Art Basel, Miami this December 2nd! This custom is part of the 5 custom Dunny's created to form one SUPERBAND, and seeing as he is called "REMARK" or "Robot Engineered for Music + Art by Rotobox for Kramer" this is super fitting to be part of that group!
