"The Infinite Hunt" Nooka custom by Coarse

Matthew Waldman, owner and head man over at Nooka, had asked the guys from Coarse Toys to customize one of their new vinyl Nooka figures... and WOW did they ever! Taking one of their fantastic 'Noop' bodies they utilized the shape of the Nooka 'U' shape and adapted it to the head of what is now titled "The Infinite Hunt". Mark from Coarse states "The noop proudly shows of his best side. A shiny presence in his latest swag, high in the sky with his hands covered and fully exposing all his amenities, visible to anyone hunting out in the wild. Appearing innocent on the outside, but calculating deep down. Waiting to be in demand and 'shot'. This hunter will become a trophy. A continuous cycle of seduction." One thing that blows me away with Coarse's work is not only the perfect craftsmanship of their figures, but the photography taken of them is flawless! This resin figure is currently being shown at Kapok in Hong Kong, so if you are near there be sure to sop by and take a look at this magnificent piece in person!

'Love Movement' art toy show and fundraising efforts

[PRESS] LOVE MOVEMENT is an art show using vinyl toys to deliver universal messages about love. After reflecting on the lack of love in the world, recently married artists, Shin Tanaka and Nao Shimojo, sent blank versions of their character toys to over 50 other artists around the world, including some who are also couples. The artists were asked to customize the toys with their designs and be part of the LOVE MOVEMENT. Each artist's interpretation is different from the next.

The finished works from Japan, America and Europe will be exhibited at SUPERFROG Gallery in San Francisco. LOVE MOVEMENT is free and open to the public from December 11th through January 16th. Shin and Nao are flying in for the opening reception, which will feature original art toys and canvases, a Japanese beatboxer, live painting by Shin and animation by Shin & Nao. LOVE MOVEMENT is Shin & Nao's first major art show in the US. They used their own money to manufacture and ship 100 vinyl toys to other artists. Shin and Nao view their figures as little messengers of love... and this is the part where YOU come into play!

Jeremy Brautman is helping them throw this show and is hoping to raise $3,000 for Shin and Nao's airfare from Tokyo and a place to stay near the gallery in San Francisco. Seeing as they put up all the money to get this ball rollin the least you can do is give back, so that is why Jeremy started a Kickstarter account to help raise some funds and if they receive more, your contributions will help pay back the costs of manufacturing the toys in Japan ($3,500) and shipping them around the world ($1,500+). IF you feel compelled to donate to this very worthy cause visit the site HERE and give what you can! Also, hit the jump for the massive list of artists involved in this show!

'This is Vinyl' Toy Drive Announcement & Giveaway

Nick from 'This is Vinyl' just passed along some info that I think would go over well for most all collectors out there... especially as we are all gearing up for the holiday season! Most of us are very fortunate to be able to purchase many great toys throughout the year. However, it's most unfortunate there are many needy kids who will not even receive a single toy to open on Christmas morning. 'This is Vinyl' would like to encourage everyone to do something for the underprivileged children. They are calling on the collector community to donate a toy to a charity for the holidays and in return you will be entered in a raffle to win a threeA Popbot from 'This is Vinyl'.... AWESOME!

How do you enter... that's easy just give a new toy to a toy drive or charity of your choice (for example - Toys for Tots, Goodwill). To be entered in the raffle, just send us an email describing the toy you gave and the name of the charity to noel@thisisvinyl.com by December 20th. They will then pick the winner and announce who it is on December 27th.

New Coarse JAWS custom from Jon Paul Kaiser...

Jon Paul Kaiser... that's all that needs to be said, this man's name resonates in the designer toy filed so much these days, and his most recent commission is AMAZING! This was completed on a Coarse JAWS for Jeffrey K. in Singapore and JPK designed this with Star Wars in mind as the theme is a young battered Boba Fett without his helmet on with an aging Krayt Dragon skull! I am honestly blown away by the work Jon does and I apologize if I come off like I am jockin him :-) but for real, dude has some serious talent! One thing that really stands out about his work is the raw form of the original figure stays in tact, and Jon uses the negative space along with distinct lines to create a whole new character! Great stuff man!
