Frank Mysterio releases his AP Black & Red Qees
Even though this event happened a little while back, it's still really cool to see all of Frank Mysterio's fans come out to support the Mexican based artists as he signed and released his Black & Red skull Chungkee Skellanimals Qees at the Vinyles Chiles store in Mexico city. The signing was great, fans were happy to hang out with Frank and his very first produced design, and Frank went all out having a GIANT version of his Black figure created for the event! There are still a few Qee leftovers of both the black and red edition which come with a cool signed poster. If interested you can email Frank via Frankalavera@hotmail.com, the Red AP version is retailing for $22, and the limited edition Black AP version is going for $30! Congrats goes out to Frank for getting into this series, and hopefully this is just the starting point for many more production pieces to come!

Artists battle it out in the 1st "Battle Burn!"
Eric "Phoneticontrol" Broers just sent along some info about a great new show that he is curating at the new Brief Space Gallery. This event is a head-to-head live art tournament that is going to feature 8 artists this time around which include: Brett Amory, Jesse Balmer, N8 Van Dyke, Josh Ellingson, Daniel Fleres, Grant Gilliland, Wednesday Kirwan, and Reuben Rude. These artists get to choose a set of "weapons" including pen, brush, rollers, or crayons and are tasked with a theme which will be chosen through subject matter suggested by the audience... where then the artist is given a 2 minute notice before their round begins. There will be 6 qualifying rounds that last 15min a piece, and the last final round will decide the champion, who will walk away with a whole slew of great prizes. The 1st Battle Burn is on Friday, November 29th, 2010 in San Francisco and promises to be a great event, so come on out and enjoy the show!

Sket-One x 2Advanced wall mural!
Sket-One was recently tasked with a wall mural for the conference room at 2A's new location. For those of you who don't know what 2Advanced is, they are a design powerhouse... do yourself a favor and check out their site HERE, mind blowing work! Sket did up a 25' wall mural that captured elements of their company, the industry, their business which fits into the overall interior design theme they were striving for... "Urban Super Hero Jungle"! Sket did a sick job capturing this feel in a really cool comic-style layout... needless to say the company is stoked on the way it turned out, wouldn't you be? More pics via Sket's Flickr HERE!

Rampart "Edition C" from Cris Rose
Cris Rose is at it again with his latest resin robot release. Rampart "Edition C" stands 4" tall, and is going to be release in a limited number of only 5 pieces... with one of which being a 1/1 "Handy Rampart" chase. These are set to drop on Thursday, November 11th via Cris' online store HERE for only $90 a piece. Do keep in mind that these are all super unique resin creations and all are hand cast and hand painted by Cris and everyone on his mailing list is getting a 24 hour advanced ordering window as a perk of being on my mailing list... hint hint, time for YOU to sign up :-) The list is open to all, just email me at cris@crisrose.co.uk and your set!
Rampart Edition C is the 3rd edition of the stackable emergency services robot wall, sporting a brand new head and a new reassuring quote to boot. Editions A and B sported the classic "Keep Calm and Carry On", Edition C sports the more stoic "Today is a Good Day To Die"... love that one! Hit the jump for the extensive backstory on this rad robot!
The original Rampart Backstory:
"A robotic assistant to the police and emergency services, primarily within Urban and Suburban areas. Strategically placed around the city for maximum coverage, each bot has his own little alcove to stand in until required. When called to action, all Ramparts in a given area will fire up their 4 primary thrusters and hover out of their little homes towards the incident.
They will then proceed to encircle the accident / fire / disturbance, locking together and stacking on top of each other to form a 7 foot high wall of metal to keep the general public safe. Outfitted with sirens, loudspeakers for public announcements, cameras and fire extinguishers, Ramparts assist with the coordination of rescue efforts in a mostly passive manner. They can, however, be asked to gently shepherd crowds, put out small isolated fires (such as in the engine of a poorly maintained hovercar) or ram through debis blocking firefighters.
Modeled loosely on the "British Bulldog", wearing a giant armoured "collar" and displaying helpful phrases such as "Keep Calm and Carry On" and "Today is a Good Day to Die", Ramparts quickly gained popularity on the streets and a variety of friendly nicknames arose (such as "Bullbots", "Hoverdogs" and "Flying Gits"...).
There is a lesser spotted "Handy Rampart" that has arms. They don't normally need them and can eject them if they need to become part of a wall, but sometimes it's useful to have one or two at the scene that are able to pick up debris or carry an old lady's shopping.
Rampart's programming was only possible due to the research and development of the Epoch Foundation. Their studies on packs of Rumbles in the "wild" had given the robot designers back at the factory a massive boost in the field of Networked Intelligence. Whereas Rumble packs were limited to 5 or 10 units, packs of Ramparts initially started at 20-40 but quickly evolved by themselves to incorporate as many as 600.
Tho each bot possessed only half the individual intelligence of a Rumble unit, their combined hive-like intelligence became a near omnipresent guardian over their area of the city. Their reaction time in an emergency was so quick, their analysis so accurate, they'd soon learnt to predict incidents and help avoid them. They would request people leave shops before the fire alarms had even gone off - they would form walls in roads seconds before the hovertruck's brakes failed - they'd be waiting to encircle the mugger as he ran around the corner.
There was no doubt, they are super smart as a team."
