*RECAP* Arkiv's "Riding Curves" solo art exhibition @ Vivi Yip Art Room on 10/23/2010

Earlier last month we posted up a preview of Indonesian artist ARKIV VILMANSA solo show titled "Riding Curves" which featured amazingly curvatious, character driven, art pieces not only in the 2D realm with traditional canvas paintings, but also in the 3D realm with sculptures and art toys. The event went off without a hitch and above you can see some of the select photos from the opening night! The show had some new works from Arkiv that as you can see surely take your breath away, the vivid colors and fluid lines are so memorizing. This will be on display until November 19th, so be sure to stop by the Vivi Yip Art Room if your in or around the area! For more pictures hit the jump for a slide show.

This platform titled "10-Doh!", created by Squid Kids Ink, is a resin figure inspired by the old school NES cartridge game, and Dril did it it up in his awesome rusty/beaten down style using his love for the OG Solid Snake game... and how rad, he even made a custom label front/back with his own twist. "DayDreamer" 3" Dunnys by ClarkR

Artist and KR forum member ClarkR recently took pics of his latest custom dunny "DayDreamer", which is based on the popular mini-munny of the same name, and I just love it! The clear head and miniature dunny inside are a unique idea, and this is just a great concept with clean execution. Clark is making 20 of these, but half of them are already spoken for so don't sleep on this awesome custom! They are $80 each and can be pre-ordered by contacting Clark here. Rad commissioned 10 MAD*l from 64 Colors

Local San Diegan, and friend of SS.com, Ephraim M. has just sent over pictures of his newest commission which was completed by the dynamic art duo Eric and Laura, better known as 64 Colors. Appreciated for their amazing artistic talent and their cute world or whimsical characters, they completely painted this 10" MAD*l from head to toe, transforming it into a magical scene that houses a grip of cutesy characters. Ephraim says that "My wife and I loved the 64 Colors Chubby Books when they came out last year, the Marshall's were also one of our favorite toys, and the MAD*l being one our favorite platforms for artists, we figured it would be a good combination."... that it was, and congrats on such a nice piece. If you all want to see this in person it will be on display at the Gunnzo booth during Designer Con, so stop by and have a look.

Nemo's one off Tiki sculptures... are AMAZING!

Sculptor Nemo has been on somewhat of a Tiki kick as we first saw his Tiki Rollie, then his Tiki Bic Buddy, as well as his Tiki Marshalls, and now he has taken it to a whole new level... carving Tiki's out of Balsa Foam, which Nemo says is used in the model industry for prototyping and is very lightweight and durable when painted! The crazy thing about carving as opposed to sculpting is that it's not very forgiving so if you mess up on a part of the figure it could mean disaster!

Nemo says that the first one he created as a donation for AMF... which stands for the Association Mattia Fagnoni. the second piece is going to be up for grabs via the Tenacious Toys online store, and is going to retail for $80... amazing good deal for an OG sculpt! Stay tuned for more one-off's from Nemo as he has some HUGE plans in the near future!
