'Eyes of Fear' 1:1 Noop & Paw bust's from Coarse

"This embodiment of Noop captures the final moment in which his existence shines upon his face. Now you can experience the dramatic presence of Noop in real-life, an extraordinary and once off Coarse creation."

Just posted up via the Coarse Toys website is their latest set of sculptural figures... and this time around they are focusing on the exploration of the head of their two main characters Noop & Paw! These high gloss fiberglass bust's, sculpted by Mark Landwehr of Coarse, are 1:1 scale... meaning they are life sized. The Noop bust measures approx. 11"x20.5"x12.5" and the Paw measures approx. 14"x27"x16"! Each one includes a signed certificate of originality. The Noop bust is set to release on October 14th, 2010 at 8am PST and is going to retail for $565.

Now... if you purchase the "Eyes of Fear" Noop figure on October 14, you have guaranteed access to purchase the "Eyes of Fear" Paw, which is set to release on December 8, to complete the duo. Wisconsin based artist Daniel Allyn Lee brings is magical world of Happycloud Thunderhead to the wall gallery inside Wholly Craft in October. The show, curated by Stephanie Rond, features paintings and plush creatures and will be on exhibit from October 6th through November 5th.

His creatures are all inhabitants of the fictional kingdom of Thunderhead, of which Happycloud is a village. Brent Nolasco's "Over Saturated & Under Appreciated" skulls @ NYCC 2010

[PRESS] Brent Nolasco's newest line of artworks is called "Over Saturated & Under Appreciated". The project uses mass-produced found objects as a basis for Brent's off-kilter artwork. Brent has wanted to do this project for a long time, and recently acquired some skulls mass-produced by Martha Stewart, giving him the perfect starting point. This new direction gives Brent the opportunity to put his spin on pop culture icons and symbols.

The beginnings of this project- the skulls- will retail for $50 at the Tenacious Toys NYCC booth #2878 in The Cultyard. A follow-up piece incorporating a gun and a skull will also be on display, which is just a prototype for the time being. Brent Nolasco will be signing at the Tenacious Toys booth at 3pm on Saturday October 9th.

Plaseebo happenings in New York

Bob Conge aka Plaseebo has NYC on lockdown this weekend. On the left is a custom for the GUUMON Show at ZAKKA, opening October 9th. The backpack on this guy doubles as a switch for the color-changing LED's inside... how cool is that! It looks so different with the lights on, it's like getting two customs at once. On the right is a teaser and sketch of the painted prototype for "The Brain Rider", which will be on display Friday and Saturday in the Cultyard booth #2682 at NYCC. Definitely can't wait for more pictures of this. And here is a little story, titled "JB and The Brain Rider" by Bob Conge.

"One day not too long ago, the Jumping Brain ( affectionately known to his friends as "JB" ) came across a poster for THE FIRST ANNUAL BODY PARTS RODEO to be held Barcelona in the summer of 2011. JB was stoked!, as he had always been infatuated with old cowboy movies and rodeos. He knew immediately he wanted to compete in the Bull Riding contest......... as the Bull of course. JB was after all part Bullfrog.

JB began tryouts to find a rider, day after day, rider after rider, no one could hang on for even one second to his slippery gyrations. JB was about to call it quits, when one afternoon at the beach, he met a Skulloctopus from the states who was vacationing in Spain. Being comfortable on slippery surfaces and with eight legs to hang on with, it was a perfect partnership. For sure they would dazzle the audience at the First Annual B P Rodeo. And so they did."

"R.I.P." Qee by Kevin Gosselin

Kevin Gosselin just sent in pictures of his masterpiece for the upcoming 15th Anniversary Qee Celebration at Dragatomi, and I love it! His attention to detail is incredible and the theme is perfect for the Toyer qee.

"I wanted my custom to be a zombie and lately I've been trying to flesh out my characters to be more than the toy itself so I decided a good way to do that was to create a base that represented the ground and have the zombie rising from his grave. It allowed me to create multiple elements which is what I was really after...."

Check out Kevin's blog for more back story on this amazing piece of art.
