Blankie release party @ MyPlasticHeart 10/1/10

MyPlasticHeart has teamed up with Aarting, an new company based out of Brooklyn, New York to have the official launch party for their new designer blind box toy called Blankie. We have coverd the progress of this figure from its humble beginings and now they are set to be let loose upon the masses. This series consists of 12 or so designs from artists all over the world including: Matucha, Menilla, Stor Dubine, PO!, Igor Ventura, Chupa&cabra, Atomic1970, Cvele, Miss Shelby, Jaoc, Jec and McCoy. Come to myplasticheart nyc from 7-9pm on October 1st and join in on the fun. As an added bonus, the first 48 people to buy a Blankie™ gets a free cupcake.

Custom Toy Union's Dunny Battle Bracket Results

Custom Toy Union's first Battle Bracket recently ended, and it was definitely a success. The platform was Dunnys, and 23 customizers went head to head in an elimination style battle. The winners of each round went against each other until only one remained... and the winner is... "Shapeshifter" by Pepe from Smallstuffstudios! The sculpting and paint job on "Shapeshifter" are almost perfect in my opinion, and the light up staff and base give it a nice touch. Well done Pepe!

Be sure to check out all the entries in the Bracket... the amount of work that went into all these customs by everyone involved was staggering. The contest section at Custom Toy Union has all the battle results available for viewing. I can't wait till the next battle... good fun!

Custom Big Sal by Hugh Rose - "Space Commander Sal"

UK based artist Hugh Rose sent over pictures of his recently commissioned Big Sal, "Space Commander Sal", and I really love the vibe this guy gives off. The blue against black and subtle colors make this custom really pop, and the theme fits the figure perfectly. I love how he carried the water and cloud effect over to the tentacles... top notch!!

You may remember Hugh from his recent "Built by Monkeys" Munny Munth entry... he received 2nd place overall, and I must say his attention to detail is incredible.
