WIP pics of Keith Poon's "The Dragon Warrior"
It's really awesome to see, and follow the progression of a project and that is what we have been doing from day one as Keith continues to feed us teasers of his upcoming "MYTH WARRIORS" figures! Today we are getting a glimpse of the head of the first character - "The Dragon Warrior"- which looks simply amazing! However... Keith adds that the sculpt is not done yet, and that the final editing will be done soon... but can you imagine this head on-top of this body?!?!

Stuntkid art show "Applied Biology" at Blackbird Attic in New York 9/11/2010
Blackbird Attic is proud to play host to an upcoming art show titled "Applied Biology" featuring the artwork of Jason Levesque aka "Stuntkid"! This show opens on Saturday, September 11 from 6-9pm and continues to October 9. Jason's work is unknown to me until now, and after doing some research I am pleasantly surprised by the diversity in his work. I would be remiss to not mention the similarities in the above work to Tara McPherson, colors and theme, but the similarities stop there as the body of his work really delves much deeper and has some very realistic overtones that dazzle the eye and imagination!
"Many times I'm inspired by a science-based subject I'm reading about," says Levesque. "I'll get excited about something in the natural world and try to mesh it into my illustration work." Levesque's images are a combination of hand drawings, photography, and Photoshop editing which really lend to the realism! Be sure to check out this show as it will surely blow some minds... and fyi, I have a new artist to follow as Jason's work is spectacular in my book!

Jimmy Foo's custom "Otus" Jouwe
UK based artist Jimmy Foo just passed along his custom Jouwe for the upcoming custom show at Toy Art Gallery on October 2nd, 2010... and wow did he do an amazing job using only Aves Apoxie, acrylic paint and cotton fabric. I love the use of the Jouwe body as an actual costume that the sculpted figure actually wears, and the melted head appearing to be a piece of fabric, almost mask like, strewn upon the ground... AWESOME! This figures name is "Otus" and Jimmy says that he does give the "slight impression of coming from a circus background, but his high wire act in an overly large rubber rhino suit was always going to be doomed to failure." This is going to be a great show, and this is just one of the many examples of what you will see first hand... so be sure to clear your calendars!

Sneak peek at OsirisOrion's first production figure...
We have seen recently that Happy Panda Toys is reaching out to up-n-coming artists, giving them a shot at their own vinyl figure... this is exactly the case with artist OsirisOrion as he will be releasing a figure with HPT, and will have the prototype on display during NYCC 2010 at the Tenacious Toys booth. This figure is being sculpted by NYC based artist Nemo, so you know it's going to be top notch! No other info like price, name, actual size has been given yet, but as NYCC draws closer... more will be revealed! Congrats to Rob for getting his own production figure, it was a long time coming, and I am sure it will be awesome!

SketOne "Dunny 2010" Artist Proof's... tomorrow!
So people have been itching to get their chance at SketOne's many AP's for his contribution to Dunny series 2010... well tomorrow is that time as he will have a 4 designs up in his online store on Wednesday, September 8th at 2pm EST. There is no set price but Sket is saying that they will be sold individually and also 1 Dunny of each design per customer... if you order more then one Dunny your order will be canceled, so be careful :-) These will be at a very reasonable price, so if your looking to complete your collection... tomorrow should be a good day to do that, and seeing as 2 outta the 4 were released as bonus exclusives (Mustard = SDCC2010, and Relish=Case Purchase) these will be hard to find without shelling over a pretty penny! So be sure to set those clocks tomorrow and hit up his store HERE... and good luck, as each design is very limited :-)

"Damages" solo show from N.C. Winters @ Subtext
Opening this Friday at Subtext Gallery in San Diego is "Damages" N.C. Winters first solo exhibition with Subtext, in which he has created a collection of paintings that interpret the feelings of disrepair, sacrifice and loss wrapped in N.C.’s definitive style. The vibrant colors, raw textures, and enchanting characters found in his work introduces his unique point of view that often incorporates the juxtaposition of disparate themes in a very graphic, yet highly illustrative approach. On view from September 10th-October 10th, 2010... be sure to come out and enjoy the amazing work, and say hit to N.C. as he will be attending the opening.
