Sketchbot Custom Show #2 @ Munky King 11/19/10

After the HUGE success that was the custom Sketchbot show #1 at MyPlasticHeart, Steve Talksowski decided it was only a matter of time before he launched a second show... a West Coast show, seeing as the majority of artist in the first were all out East... now he has the date set, and blanks shipping out for the 2nd show which he planned to launch the day before Designer-Con (11/20/10). Mark your calendars and plan your trip accordingly - opening night will be the Friday BEFORE D-Con at Munky King LA, and should be not only full of fans, but a ton of artist will be in town because of Dcon... and just look at that list of artist below, over 70 so far!

The artists participating are:

Kevin Gosselin X Coolvader custom Labbit...

Artist collaborations are awesome... just seeing two artist work together to mend their artist styling's is something that can;t be found really in any other venue, and that is exactly what Kevin Gosselin and Coolvader have done... with their first and hopefully not their last artist collab. Taking the initiative to commission these two artist was none other than Linh Pham, the gentleman who pretty much has the worlds largest custom Labbit collection, and already has one of Kevin's custom Labbit's in his ever growing collection, he felt it would only be fitting to get these two to do a collab.

So what happened next is that Kevin took the initial steps and sculpted the entire piece... leaving a blank canvas for Coolvader to work his magic on... leaving it open to interpretation, and WOW did they both play off one another's styles and strengths. The sculpt is just wicked to begin with, and then added the gruesome painterly touches that we have all come to know and love from Coolvader... this custom just turned out fantastic!

Huck Gee x Coarse Toys vinyl custom?!?!

There are a few categories of fans... first you have those that like an artists work and will buy the production pieces that come out, then you have those fans who like the work of an artist so much you ask for commissions... and that is exactly what this fan did, as he combined his love for the work of Huck Gee and Coarse Toys. This fan, who wished to stay anonymous for the time being, is a Huck collector, in fact he has more than 12 customs from him to date, and he is also down with Coarse, as he loves the Love the Jaws design. When he asked Huck to do the custom he gave no direction at all, but Huck knew that this fan owned a sushi bar so this is what he came up with... amazing to say the least! The wood grain, tentacles, necklace, large sized rice grains... all of this turned out so great, and rumor has it that this fan has Jaws commissioned out to so many more artists out there... so stay tuned :-)

Lulu permanently reduces pricing on Real x Head!

Have you been looking for some REAL kaiju statewide, but REALize that it's tough to find... well Lulubell Toy Bodega has just announced that they have permanently reduced pricing on Real x Head across the board to be more in line with Japanese retail! People are loving this, but the question has come up...why, and how can you offer these pieces at lower prices, well the answer is below.

From Lulubell's:
"When we entered the game, we inherited what was standard retail pricing for all products at the time from the market we entered. As our tenure and relationships in this wonderful world of vinyl grew, so did our passion and drive to spread the love we found for many of these people who pour their hearts into what they do. For the last two years, we have grown to experience some great people in the world of kaiju, and of course one person who has always stood out to us personally is Mori.

The man behind RxH fueled our desire to heavily promote his brand, and to re-ignite excitement in the fans by sharing any knowledge we obtained and by attempting to make Real Head known & accessible to as many people as possible.
Mori has a true love & passion for his art. We have a special appreciation, gratitude and respect for Mori, and when we stand behind someone, it is because of that belief in the people behind the product, not solely the product itself. Yes, the product must be a high quality, but it is high quality people and ethics that make that possible. And by lowering prices, we hope to be able to give more people the ability to appreciate what we do about Real x Head. RHND!"

So what are you waiting for... if you love kaiju then you will love Real x Head... and at competitive prices you can stock up on some fantastic Eastern vinyl today! Head on over HERE now to see what Lulubell's has to offer!

Tenacious Toys custom Marshall Blind-Box S1 - Featuring the work of Ian Ziobrowski

Today we are officially launching the first of many promo's for Tenacious Toys custom Blind Box Marshall series, and today's featured custom is Ian Ziobrowski's Nuggs Marshall. Ian works at a lifestyle boutique called Genuine Artikle in Lake Ronkonkoma, NY (that's on Long Island). He's an art student and just a really cool guy. He really went above and beyond with his Nuggs custom- the detail, sculpting and paint application are precise and deliberate- very professional. He did 3 pieces like this, and a variant as well, but that does not get revealed until after the series is sold!

There are a total of about 35 pieces in the series... half of the artists were each given 4 Marshall's to customize: 3 in a standard style, and one variant. The other artists were given 3, or 2, or 1 figure to do up as chases or mystery figures. The concept is to put quality customs by talented artists into the hands of collectors for not very much money, so the price-point of $50 was set and the artist roster created, which includes: Mike "NEMO" Mendez, Brent Nolasco, OsirisOrion, Ian Ziobrowski, Den Ramos, LYS0L, Rolo, Bryan Collins, Phetus, John "Spanky" Stokes, Leecifer, Steve "Sketchbot" Talkowski, and ZAM. Stay tuned for more updates featuring more customs from this series!
