*RECAP* Toxic Catalyst show at Super7

This past Saturday Super7 played host to the Monstrehero curated Toxic Catalyst show in the beautiful San Francisco bay store. Toxic Catalyst showed off some of the best in resin casted figures.... ranging from one piece castings to the more complicated articulated pieces. With so many great pieces it was hard to pick any one favorite though I will say I was partial to the carded figures. I was also particularly drawn to Chris Rose's customs as well. Chris who has been quite busy lately had 3 pieces there that really showed off his design as well as his paint prowess. Of the carded figures, I kept finding myself going back to Sucklord's "Steam versus Analog" figures. Unfortunately the one figure I was most anticipating I somehow forgot to look for and am now going to have to make another trek to SF in hopes of seeing the figure created by Tattoo Royale's Guf... the one with the 8 ball head and the classy top hat.

As always the places was lively with both collectors and artists eager to share in the love of toys in any form. I for one am looking forward to seeing more from the resin artists out there and can't wait for the next show... and for those of you who were unable to make it out for the show, there are still a few pieces left over in the Super7 online store HERE, so head on over and pick up the goods! Hit the jump for more pictures from the event, and thanks to Hypnotiq and Anubis2night for the pics and the writeup!

New 3A Ankou Teasers

So a few days ago Ashley Wood dropped a few new teaser pictures on his 3A production blog. Simply titling them Asclepius and Unknown. Within minutes the toy forums were buzzing with delight. At first glance many, myself included thought these must be the mentioned retailer versions of the popular new figure Ankou from Ashley's Adventure Kartel line. But as with all things 3A it wasn't quite that simple as a few hours later Ashley mentioned these may end up being the chase versions that were announced for the blind boxed singles long sold out off Bambaland.

I initially held off on reporting these as i thought we might get clarification by today but hey something this cool just had to shown off. So more details as they become clear. But that doesn't stop all of you from sharing your thoughts. What would you prefer at this point for these new Ankou's? Retail or the possibilty of them being part of the Blind box chases?

Either way one things for sure we know we will be getting at least 2 more Ankous either in blind box form or retail. Personally I'd love even more.

German artist VISEone just sent over images of his latest custom from his COMIC STRIPPED series... this one was completed for the upcoming JOUWE CUSTOM SHOW that is being held on October 2nd, 2010 at ARTYFARTY in Cologne Germany. VISEone says that "To match the original color scheme of the original JOUWE TOY - I decided to pick a Marvel Special Edition – the "RED HULK" – which only a few heard about that something like this existed"... and as you can see the results are fantastic as VISEone kept the awesome shading around the figure and added the muscle parts with a few sculpted on lumps of material!

Skratch "Purple Claws" edition by Erick Scarecrow

We posted up a teaser image last week of Erick Scarecrow's latest figure to be released and now the full reveal has been made of his "Skratch" figure. This limited edition "Purple Claws" colorway is limited to only 25pcs worldwide, and each 6" handpainted resin figure is signed, numbered and packaged by artist. These are going to retail for $125, and will be up for grabs this Friday, August 27, 2010 at 9am EST at the ESC Ebay shop. Erick tells us that this figure has been in the works for some time now as back when the Ice Cream Micci Vanilla colorway was released in April, there was a print that came with it... and hiding behind the scoops of icecream on the side was Skratch.

Skratch Purple Claws story:
"Recently Skratch grew tired of her job stacking boxes at a local toy shop. She was underpaid, cranky and hated the fact that she didn't get any freebies. Her big mouth boss made her job harder by telling her that if she worked a little bit harder, she would be awarded with the title "Employee of the Month". Skratch couldn't care less for the title. Every month that title went to a lazy Purpolo Papa Sama that was favored by the boss for some mysterious reason, but that's another story.

One day a large box fell on Skratch's head due to the Purpolo Papa Sama's neglect. She couldn't take it anymore and she decided to quit. Her boss asked "where are you going to find a better job in this economy? Besides you're a purple puss with no boots. Who would hire you?". That "purple puss" comment drove her over the edge as she popped her claws out and went after her boss. The chase came to a halt when they noticed an ice cream covered mouse opening an ice cream store across the street. It was lunch time."

Quarter Cutaway Anatomical 3" Dunny Sculpt from fairytale anatomy master Jason Freeny

Posted up via Jason's Facebook page is an awesome sculpt that he recently completed of a 3" Dunny in the style that we have come to know and love from Jason, the reveal of the anatomy of these figures and characters that we see normally in full body poses. Jason strips them down usually in 3D, which I thought this was the same technique used, but it's not computer generated and is 100% sculpted!!! Jason states that he may put this up on Ebay, so keep those eyes peeled, as this would be a dope addition to any Dunny collection!
