We have been following the progress of Muttpop's amazing new figure "King Katch" for some time now, and it appears to be making its respective rounds to conventions, as it is seen in the above video and picture at the Japan Expo in France! As you can see, this figure is very formidable, as it stands next to the 8" Tequila and towers over him a good 1.5" to 2" taller... making this beast close to 10" tall. As for articulation, this figure will only have one point... the head, as the arms would be a challenge to keep the aggressive nature to them, and honestly i would give that up in a heartbeat to keep the figure looking as cool as it does now! The fine folks over at Muttpop are doing some great work here and I, and I am sure many others, are really looking forward to seeing this in its completed form, keep it up guys and great work!

Kevin Titzer's amazing found object sculptural pieces will blow your mind!
Kevin Titzer contacted me recently showing a few of his sculptural pieces and I was instantly blown away with how cool they were, and just had to share with all of you... because well, I feel as though these are right up our designer toy/art alley :-) Kevin is from, and currently lives in Evansville Indiana, and has been making sculpture for about fifteen years. Most of the stuff he uses is found and recycled materials, where his figures are carved out of wood that he finds on the banks of the Ohio river... talk about being resourceful! These range in size from 30" tall to 12" tall, and the majority of his figures start out with the previously mentioned materials and then the surface is covered with tin by hundreds of very tiny nails, then the heads/bodies are meticulously painted with acrylic paint... to create the masterpieces that you see above. So are you hooked now... good! Head on over to Kevin's site HERE to check out all the other great hand-crafted goods, and also if you in or around the Texas area, he is having a show this Saturday, July 10th, 2o10 at Goldesberry Gallery in Houston!

"The Lord" & "Barber" Custom Dunny's from Sergio Mancini and Igor Ventura
"The Lord" custom Dunny is a devil who is slowly trying to get away from the dark side, to repent from his evil ways. He decided to become a lord, a gentleman. Already managed to change his aura, but still keeps ties to his dark past. This is an amazing custom 8" Dunny by Sergio Mancini for a private collector in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, and boy did it turn out sooooo clean, amazing work dude!
"Barber Dunny" is a custom 8" Dunny that custom artist Igor Ventura did for a private collector in Bend, OR. He says that he had this idea for a Dunny for some time, and he always thought it was a pretty original idea to use the ears as the barber shop poles. This collector wanted a surprise, so he decided to finally make the barber, with hand-made accessories and all that vintage look from the old barber shops in the USA, and what an amazing job he did on this one... both of these are top notch, production quality pieces!

Shepard Fairey's "Mr.Spray" vinyl figure...
I know that this has been a long time coming and it's really cool to finally see this get produced through STRANGEco. They teamed up with Shepard Fairey a long time ago to do his "MR. SPRAY" figure and now not only do they announce one colorway but a whopping 4 different ones! "Mr. Spray" is an original character created by the artist in 2004 as a street-art appropriation of an advertising character design of the 1950s. Mr. Spray is the first original vinyl figure design by the artist in eleven years and will be released in mid-July 2010.
The Mr. Spray vinyl figure is a rotocast vinyl figure, 11" tall has 4 points of articulation and packaged with an OBEY mini stencil with illustrated card box packaging. This is produced in limited editions with four distinct color variants: Black and Red, edition of 350 pieces each (which are available for pre-order HERE now at $84.99 each), available at select retailers and Strangecoʼs online retail store, plus two special editions: Gold, edition of 200 pieces, available exclusively through Obey-Giant and Silver, edition of 100 pieces available exclusively through STRANGEco.

Amanda Spayd's "Foxglove" SDCC exclusive
Amanda Spayd is proud to team up with DKE to release an awesome exclusive figure titled "Foxglove" for SDCC 2010 this year! This figure is limited to only 25 pieces, stands 9.5" tall, excluding the ears, and is completely handsewn with hand-aged fabric, stuffed with hardwood sawdust and cotton, and the faces are handpainted and cast resin... some serious TLC put into each one! There are 3 different ear lining patterns among them, but they are all blue. These also come with a really cool 4" x 5" antique-style hand-finished portrait! How much you may wonder... only $75, what a smokin hot deal that is, and to me that price also secures a spot in the going, going, gone category :-)
Info from the very great, and amazing DKE Toys. For Wholesale Inquiries about this awesome product please contact www.dketoys.com.

Tara McPherson... the next in line for KR Black?

Rumors are swirling tonight as a picture was revealed of what is to be believed the next figure in line for the exclusive Kidrobot Black series... and it's a piece by Tara McPherson! So keep in
mind this is just speculation, but the image does state"Kidrobot Black Toy by Tara McPherson" :-) This piece, if produced, is based off her painting titled "Lilitu" (on Left) done for Dark Pop exhibition at Last Rites Gallery. Tara explains that the "painting is based on the Sumerian myth of the demon Lilitu. Representing chaos, seduction and ungodliness. She is a sexually frustrated and infertile female who behaves aggressively toward young men, her breasts are filled with poison not milk. In her every guise, Lilith has cast a spell on humankind." As we can see from the rough sketches this figure appears to be emerging from a liquid pool, pretty cool concept for a figure. Tara has a huge following, and hopefully this figure helps to shed new light on the KR Black line, as alot are unhappy with the previous releases... time will tell, and here's to hoping this gets made!
