"I Am Plastic, Too: The Next Generation of Designer Toys" by Paul Budnitz

In the words of Jesse Hernandez "Finally, lol". Kidrobot President Paul Budnitz is set to release the follow-up to his 2006 book "I Am Plastic", which is a great book, filled with amazing pictures and info. "I Am Plastic, Too: The Next Generation of Vinyl Toys" is going to be a 368-page hardcover book, which you can pre-order right now over at Amazon for under $30. This time around the main focus in this book is the huge influence that Western designers have made in the scene... it should make for a great read, but who really reads anymore, I know you all stopped reading what I have typed thus far, I wanna see the pictures :-)

[Press] "I Am Plastic, Too showcases the next generation of designer toys from around the world. Created by fashion designers, comic book artists, underground illustrators, graffiti artists and fine artists, these toys, which cost anywhere from five dollars to thousands of dollars, are coveted by collectors everywhere. With kids, parents, celebrities, and design aficionados hooked, the designer toy phenomenon just keeps getting bigger. This book is packed with toys from 130 artists and companies and includes extensive interviews with thirteen of the hottest designers working today. Many of the favorite creators from the first book are back along with new designers such as Amanda Visell, Brandt Peters, eBoy, Jon Burgerman, Kathie Olivas and Tara McPherson."

Project Detonate's "Sweet Siblings" MAD*L's

Project Detonate has some exciting news... the left over 10" MAD*l's from his "Sweet Tooth" exhibition back in February will be up for grabs in his online store HERE on Friday April 23rd, 2010, Noon EST for $200 each. This duo would look mighty fine in someones collection as the pair but if I can't talk you into that, at least pick one up :-) I love the distress pattern on these figures as well as the very muted pastel colors, and who can miss the great frosting topped heads... fantastic! Don't sleep on these two awesome customs!

*ON SITE* Noferin's "We Heart Wood" custom Jibibuts @ Munky King

Well, we have been covering the build up for this show for what seems like many months now, and the opening night has came and went. Thanks to Noferin we have some amazing shots of the custom wood Jibibuts for the show titled "We Heart Wood". This went down in Los Angeles on April 8th, 2010 at Munky King, where they played gracious hosts to the multitude of fantastic customs... not to mention the setup was KILLER! It appears that they made platforms that wrapped all around the gallery in the shape of something very organic... what a cool way to display all the customs! This show featured the works of Noferin, Doktor A, Brandi Milne, Jason Limon, Apak, Kelly Vivanco, Bubi Au Yeung, Peskimo, Travis Lampe, Yoskay Yamamoto, Podgypanda, APAK, Tessar Lo, Jeremiah Ketner, 64Colors, Tado, Julie West, Stella Im Hultberg, and many others!
