"Almond & Salamandra" new vinyl figure control art from Patricio Oliver
After the initial launch of Patricio Oliver's mini figure series the "CUCOS" from Kidrobot, he has made a name for himself not only as an amazing illustrator (which he already was, just unknown to alot in the designer toy community) , but has put his foot into the vinyl toy realm... and now he is taking a full step through! Above he is introducing us to a couple new characters he has titled "Almond & Salamandra" which are currently in production. PO goes on to tell us that "Almond (standing 3.2" tall) is a young and powerful ginger witch from the Pentacle Village. She channels her magic through fire and flame. She's used a portion of her soul to create Salamandra (standing 5" tall), an animated humongous guardian beast and furnace." The control art for these figures look really promising, especially Salamandra, I love the shape and attitude the illustration portrays! I am also looking forward to next week as PO will release the sculpting pictures of these figures... so keep an eye out for these!

"Jaws Loser" from Coarse Toys
Coarse Toys is has decided to finally put an end to their jaws series of figures and they are going out with a bang. "Jaws Loser" is going to be a highly limited figure coming in two editions, the rare blush edition(left), limited to 50 and the white edition(right), limited to 100... each one retailing for around $300. These stand 13” tall, and come with everything you see pictured above! These will also come with a handcrafted paper box. These figures have always intrigued me, maybe because of their size, or the uniqueness of the figure itself. One thing stands certain though, I will never have enough money to purchase on of these, so good luck to all that try, they will go quick! Look for these to drop online HERE on March 26, 2010!

Mike Giant's "Toypunks" mascot revealed by Reckless Toys... and boy did it turn out nice!
We have been seeing teasers pop up all over the internet, in illustration forms, little bits and pieces, for the past year about Reckless Toys flagship figure release the "TOYPUNKS MASCOT" designed by Mike Giant... nothing has been concrete until now. Even the guys over at Bigshot Toyworks, who were in charge of the sculpting for this figure, have been keeping things very close to their chest. This figure, just like I am sure most figures have great backstories, go read this one HERE!
Reckless Toys did a really great job spearheading this figure into production organizing all parties involved and in the end created an awesome piece that represents Mike Giant's vision. This will be available in the fall at New York Comic Con, and also at select retailers and at RecklessToys.com. Next up... full reveal of colorways!

Red "WEIRD HAND MONSTER" S"K"UM-kun resin figure from ZacPac
Kazuhiro Takahashi, the director of the awesome toy store in Japan ZacPac, has just released info on the next version of their special resin figure designed by Knuckle, which is the 2nd colorway of their "WEIRD HAND MONSTER" of S"K"UM-kun. This red version, standing at a little over 5" tall, is limited to only 5 pcs worldwide, and is set to drop this Saturday, March 27th 2010 for a whopping $220... yikes! I do like the figure alot, just a little much for the size, but if your interested and your living outside of Japan, hit them up via e-mail to request@zacpac.ne.jp to get your request in! This figure was created in an homage to Jim Philips's classic Screaming Hand (color, shape) and the band Suicidal Tendencies (bandana).

Hippies and Vegetarians be warned of Carrot Slayer has come to take back what is rightfully his!
Last week we covered Italian company, Very Bravo's first toy (posted HERE), The Ghetto Reaper... and now they have released their 2nd figure "The Carrot Slayer", which in looking at both figures in comparison, they share the same body characteristics, except for the head shape... this is a great way to get the most out of a toy shape to cut down on production costs. The actual figure might have the same shape, but the application of paint totally breaths new life into it.. The Carrot Slayer is coming soon in 2 limited editions of 250 pcs each Gruesome(left) and Hippie(right). These stand at 8" tall and just like their Ghetto Reaper counter parts, they will retail for around $60... look for them to drop in April! They are produced by Superpowers and distributed by Atom Plastic.

Elite Gudz x Phetus x Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week
[PRESS] Elite Gudz artist and designer, Phetus, helped Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week bid a fond farewell to its Bryant Park home by contributing original art installations to the events media sponsor, Vevant, for each day of the eight day event. A recap of the occasion along with behind the scenes footage is now available from the team at Elite Gudz.
Phetus’ site-specific creations each consisted of a differently styled mannequin bust, a 4' x 6' canvas and an accompanying 12" x 12" canvas in themes relating to the world of fashion and current events. Amongst the pieces created by Phetus for the event were “Neg di san fe,” in an effort to support relief in Haiti and “From the Heart,” in support of Women’s Heart Health Awareness.
