S.P.U.D. is designed by German artist & customizer "Das-Mo" and will be produced by PatchTogether! This figure is 6" tall, casted in resin and handpainted, there are also going to be DIY-blanks. Opposing plenty of complex toy designs being published lately, Das-Mo takes it down his own road back to simplicity. S.P.U.D. stands out with simple but aesthetic and fresh shapes... and stay tuned because they are working on S.P.U.D. Zipper Pulls as well!
Camilla d'Errico has an upcoming show in Vancouver, at The Ayden Gallery. As you all know, the Olympics start February 12th, in Vancouver! The city is crazy, it will be insane, but it is also an opportunity for Vancouver to shine in front of the world. For this special occasion, Director Ken Lum has put together a show that features 5 artists all representative of Vancouver's contemporary art scene: Peter Taylor, Ben Tour, Lani Imre, The Dark, and Camilla d'Errico.
Her theme for the show will be nature, and specifically as it relates to Canada. She is going to attempt something quite different from the ordinary, she thinks Vancouver is the best place to live in the world, and wants all that pride to shine through in this show.
The show opens Saturday, February 13th at 7:00 pm, for those who can make it. There will be live painting, music, drinks, and an after party too.
Hemway Industries is proud to announce the launch of a new print by David Choe, “Haitian Girl”, with all proceeds being donated to benefit the Haitian Relief Effort. Personally paying for the cost of the prints, David Choe created “Haitian Girl” with all proceeds going to Yéle Haiti, a foundation created by Wyclef Jean. “Haitian Girl” measures 18x24 and is a giclée print on archival paper. BLObPUS brings the evil glam. What seems like a contradiction works in a dazzling array of sparking doom. Look for a JP release on the 29th at, BLObPUS "lottery style" and a US release to follow shortly at Lulubelltoys. Now I am not too excited about this, it really makes the figures look super messy, but I am sure this will get a ton of people excited, so keep your eyes open fr the release.
Uber Cute is a group exhibition will feature wooden sculptures, plush work, customized toys and illustration by Daniel Elson, Okkle, Heidi Kenney (My Paper Crane), and Bukubuku. The opening reception is Saturday, February 6 from 7-10pm and the exhibit will be on display until February 28. On February 6th along with other artists, NoseGo will be showing at the Loom in Bushwick Brooklyn, NY. Formation Skateboards also recently released his first skateboard graphic "Crowned". He is also one of the few yet fortunate to be featured in the Clor Zine set to release on February 18th. Friff just completed his latest custom right in time for Chinese New Year (26th Jan - 14th Feb). The white tiger (Bái Hǔ) is titled "Rhaar" and it is a mini munny and comes in his own custom wooden box. 2010 is the year of the tiger and the white tiger is one of the Chinese horoscope symbols. He did an amazing job... so amazing that it has already been sold through his online store HERE. Awesome job on this custom man, and congrats on the sale!
This is the final Mao in the Bronze-Silver-Gold Mao Trilogy and we last saw Kozik's Gold Mao Bust HERE which was also made from fiberglass, and just like that one the new silver edition measures 30"h x 20"w x 18"d and was made in an edition of 25 pieces. In college I had a buddy who had a pet rabbit... when we would partake in some adult beverages, that said rabbit would wait till we weren't looking and knock over our beverages and drink them for himself... good times!!!!
