Artist and designer Shing Khor has been working on the
Specimen 7 project since February 2009, and they're all one of a kind cute-ish science fiction figures made from polymer clay, and they come in all shapes, sizes and specimen's!
She is currently in the process of dabbling in resin casting, and she hopes to release a series based on that medium soon! As you can see from the above pictures she is super talented and has lots of great ideas... so keep your eyes on her! You can see many more pics of her creatures via her Flickr
HERE as well as make some purchases via her Etsy shop
HERE.
The story of Specimen 7...We found these creatures during the estate sale of Mrs. Edna Lee Ellis(1949-2008), the second wife of renowned scientist Charles Ellis(1930-1998), well known for his research into other-planetary life forms. Although much of Dr. Ellis' research is now considered to be a elaborate hoax, or at least not reproducible, we have no explanation for the thousands of carefully preserved specimens found in the Ellis basement.

Crewest is pleased to announce “Prison INC.” a group show exhibition curated by Gregg Stone and featuring a large collection of highly skilled drawings created by incarcerated artists living behind bars whose life could have been different if born under different circumstances. Living behind bars has allowed these artists to discover their true talent and blessed them with the gift to illustrate that which fills their mind. Also on display will be letters with compelling stories from the artists.
Additionally,
Crewest officially opens a new “Featured Artist Room” on February 6th, 2010. This new Featured Artist Room will feature monthly installations by featured artists selected by Crewest. Kicking off inside this new room, Crewest presents “Life Inside” a collaborative installation, directed under Edgar "OSOK" Hoill, featuring the creative works of Adrian Nieto, John Jarasa, Gregg Stone, Juan Sanchez Jr., Salim Assid Jr., Elena Dominguez, David Montes and Rafael Vasquez. Dedicated and inspired by the trying times of prison, this moving installation brings patrons into the underground world of the prison system as well as the lifestyle which landed them there. Its central focus is to bring the best out of a world gone wrong and it's an artistic portrayal of the beauty found and created in a world most often times associated with negative stereotypes and grim outlooks. Click here to view a video on “Life Inside.”
Exhibiting Artists:Gregg Stone, Edgar “OSOK” Hoill, Kenny McDermott, J. Cheddah, Leno Delgado, William Woods, Klive Hulsey, Martin Bueno, Javier, Penko, Warlock, Oscar Campos, Adrian Nieto, John Jarasa, Juan Sanchez Jr., Salim Assid Jr., Elena Dominguez, David Montes and Rafael Vasquez.

Daniel Yu sent over some gret pictures of a project that he has been working on as a contribution artwork for a local arts festival in Singapore entitled "Content: navigating a point". Each head was sculpted and painted and the final piece was exhibited as digital prints of each individual head. The title of this piece is "Incognito" and they were all created using epoxy sculpt, acrylic paints, and then turned into digital prints.
Daniel goes on to say that "
This body of work addresses the concept of identity, and questions the commonly held assumptions about stereotypes and self-awareness. The medium and imagery of gas masks draw on the symbolism and aesthetics of youth culture, and also deal with sameness and difference between selves. The traditional headdresses contain faint intimations concerning cultural personality. This resonance of cultural identity, being based upon difference, presents itself as a divisive force in society. The concluding image suggests that cosmopolitanism provides individuals with a greater sense of shared citizenship, presenting the ideology of belonging to a single community. Ergo, to not always be divisive. As individuals, we share an inherent part of “make up” that provides a common ground and alternate means of identifying with each other." These turned out really cool and you might remember Daniel's other work that he did
HERE featuring 3 custom "Playmo de Plumes", these are very similar in sculpting style to those, great work man!

Check out the sculpt for Jon Knox's aka
Hello, Brute's new toy titled "Sookie La La". Jon is at a point in the process where this beast is about to be molded... so it is only a matter of time before this sees the light of day for public consumption. Details on the release are not 100% yet, but if the molding goes according to plan, look for Sookie at the
end of the month. On another not Jon say's "
Though he’s been through quite an evolution, Mr. La La was the first character I developed under Hello, Brute back in 2005. He was made into a few different plush forms in 2006, and now he’s making his debut in resin." It is really cool to see the evolution of character development by the artist that we follow and I look forward to seeing this piece in its completed form... keep your eyes peeled
HERE for more details in the next week or two.

Stefan is a super talented artist, and a super cool guy to boot! You can now follow all of his updates via his Twitter profile HERE, not on Twitter yet? Get a move on!
From Stefan's Blog:
Here is Monster No.21 to keep you company. Can't keep his mouth shut, this guy. Maybe he's hungry? Maybe he has a deviated septum and has to breathe through his mouth? Maybe he's singing? Judging by the comments on the last couple of monsters you know much more about the story behind these creatures than I do. I can't wait to hear what you have to tell me about this one.

Sometimes simplicity is the best design... loving this, I would never wear it, but the design and concept are fantastic.
TeeFury is an awesome website that sells T-shirts for $9 a pop...the only catch is that it is only on sale for 24hours and then the next T-shirt is posted up! I have seen awesome shirts by some amazing artists on here and the total purchase price is $11. So that is $9 for the Tee and $2 for the shipping...that is an awesome deal that can't be beat! I will try and post the shirts up daily, or you can go visit the
site yourself!
Money does go back to the artist and after today, this t-shirt will be Gone FOREVER! Today artist earns $1 for every tee sold. So make sure you get over there if yer diggin the design!
