Jesse Hernandez's "OG" Ozomahtli makes an appearance in Sacramento @ Dragatomi

Thanks to Jay222 for his sneaky ninja like photo skills, he was able to catch Jesse Hernandez's unreleased vinyl figure title "Ozomahtli" in its natural habitat, i.e. the shelves at Dragatomi :-). The figure posted above is the OG version, and boy does it look amazing, the colors, the size, the details, this is for sure a toy that is going to be on everyone's want list. Rumor has it this may see an April release date, maybe with a few other colorways to follow, who knows... anyone else getting excited???

Apparel company Billionaire Mafia review!

I had the very great opportunity to get a hold of some awesome t-shirts from apparel line Billionaire Mafia and put together this video review to show all you guys the quality of the shirts that they offer. This clothing line that was reviewed is from their "Graffiti" section which really correlates to the designer toy/art industry. All the shirts and other apparel available through Billionaire Mafia is of the highest quality and is what you would expect form a high-end clothing company. Another great thing about them is that they give back to the community, to quote "Borrowing from the old mafia method of organizing a union to serve the less fortunate, Billionaire mafia sells affordable products inspired from the streets in an effort to share the wealth with our community through charities that preserve the arts, improve existing programs and make the arts accessible to underprivileged neighborhoods. There is no crime in giving back." Take a sec and go browse all their goods, you won't be sorry. Big thanks to the Billionaire Mafia for hooking me up with all these shirts for the review!

"Drabble" custom MAD*l from Kat Brunnegraff

Kat Brunnegraff just finished up her most recent custom, and this time around it was a 5" MAD*l and it is titled "Drabble"! this is another custom from Kat that has evolved from her more common "Night Walker" customs, and I really like the direction she is going! kat says that "Drabble is a land Dragon, he has no wings like many other dragons do. A fact that torments him everyday. He often dreams of being able to soar up into the sky and join his winged friends in flight." Great job on this Kat, I look forward to more customs in this style! For more pictures hit up Kat's Flickr HERE!

*On Site* Art For Wishes at Dragatomi

Dragatomi opened their first art show of 2010 (stay tuned for a calendar packed with awesomeness) on a charitable tip with the Art For Wishes custom art toy show. The show featured the talented tots of toy artists with all profits going to the Make a Wish Foundation. I really loved this concept, and it was just what I needed to lure my wife with sushi and go pay a long overdue visit to Sacramento's best art toy (and now spraypaint) shop.

Every 2nd Saturday, downtown Sacramento transforms into a diverse spectrum of art. For instance, an ice rink had been installed, and I can only describe what I saw as the local highschool drama club ice-krunking and doing the Time Warp (better than it sounds, maybe). With Dragatomi occupying some nice real estate on J Street, a consistent crowd browsed the toys all night long. It's kind of refreshing to see what kids do with DIY toys. Adults are subject to the influences of everything and everyone around us. Kids tend to paint with pure imagination and heart. Each of the kids in the show painted a blank Kidrobot Munny and a small 2D canvas. All of the art was priced to sell at $50.

Jesse Hernandez was on hand, but only to support his budding artist daughter, Eliana. I recently saw the Hernandez family at the 3D Canvas show in Oakland. Cheers to them for always supporting the art scene. And big ups to Ray and Joanne (plus Chris and Perez) of Dragatomi for a cool show idea. You should go visit them. While we all debated what kind of group portrait to take, Greta, perhaps inspired by the Miao and Mousubi toys and our recent trip to Japan, came up with the new iconic picture pose of 2010. So go to Sacto and ask Dragatomi to show you how to throw the Lucky Cat. Peace sign? So 2009. Be sure to CLICK THROUGH to see all the fantastic pieces that were in this show!

D-Lux for ICFSB2 show...

Dan Orosco aka D-Lux just sent over his finished piece for the "It came From Skullbrain 2" show at Super 7 SF store on January 16th, at 7pm. His piece is a Cotton Candy Dragamel, where Pink, sky blue, florescent pink, gold, black sprays make up the majority of the figure, and to top of the design the whole thing is lightly dusted with clear pearl and silver. This whole piece turned out fantastic, and I bet it looks stunning in person.
