Well... for those of you who are unable to make it out to New York (myself included) for Audrey Kawasaki's solo show titled "Hajimari" which is going down at the Jonathan Levine Gallery in NY TONIGHT, Saturday 12/12/09, one of our SpankyStokes.com correspondents was on site to cover the event live for us, huge thanks to Jesse aka J*Ryu for taking all of these amazing pictures, and as you can see the place was packed, standing room only to get up close and personal with all of Audrey's amazing works. The fine detail and the subtle shading is truly mind blowing and definitely a treat for all of those who made it out to the event!
Tons of fans lined up to just say hello with a little meet and greet session with the very humble artist. Audrey doodled and sketched for all those who waited, and chatted it up with everyone! The opening was a success and if you are able to make it out there, this show is up until January 9th, 2010 @ JLVG so do yourself a favor and go see all these pieces in person! Sometime you get sent stuff to AMAZING to pass up a post on, and this was one of those cases. Thanks to my buddy Chris, who found this over on TheFwoosh.com, I was instantly intrigued! I love video games and back in the day Punch-Out was one of the best games out there... and artist Fugazi thought so as well and he took it upon himself to create custom figures of the whole cast of characters!!! Head on over HERE for many more pictures from the series!
From the artist: "Growing up in the Nintendo generation, one of my most favorite games was Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!! I wanted to pay homage to a very fond childhood past-time, so i decided to customize the entire cast of characters. these figures were made up from various WWE and Rocky fodder. a lot of time was spent shaving down the existing hair and resculpting a more fitting do. little mac was made from a black spiderman body, gambit boots, sentry head, and his gloves were kindly provided by a fellow customizer (thanks benty!). all of the shorts were sculpted and some of the figures such as bald bull, sodapop, mr. sandman were bulked up with some apoxie sculpt. both of king hippo’s heads and the alt head for bald bull were resculpted."

This snowy-white watch is adorned with abstract fir trees, hearts, ornaments, stars, holly and other year-round reminders of the spirit of the holidays.
The watch was designed by internationally renowned artist Christopher Bettig, who incorporated traditional holiday colors in such an intricate and alluring way that the watch is completely wearable beyond the month of December. Chris also designed the “snow globe” packaging - a clear poly-bag filled with non-toxic artificial snow and decorated with snowflakes.
There are only 100 of these festive limited edition timepieces in existence, and each one comes with a two-color silkscreen print designed, printed, signed and numbered by the artist.
And as if the opportunity to own one of only 100 pieces isn’t exclusive enough, Vannen has made 10 super-limited Winter Holiday Watches.... The Snowflake chase/variant! This version is made from the same fashionable Christopher Bettig design as the Winter Exclusive, but features silver snowflakes printed all over the straps and crystal, and it's packaging is individually signed - and doodled on - by Chris. These mega-special watches will be sent randomly to 10 lucky individuals that order the Winter Holiday Watch.

Sadly, there is nothing sweet about Monster 45. Monster 45 is a pig. No doubt about that. But is it a nuclear space pig? A hydroelectric boar? A hybrid? A porcine submarine? A fiendish Monster millipede that has merely disguised itself as a pig? I can't wait to see the first stories of the New Year! Please rest assured that this year 344 LOVES YOU EVEN MORE!
