Michael Lau x MINDstyle LA Fat Giveaway

The Gardener 10th exhibition LA Fat wood grain figures quickly sold out in Los Angeles, followed by the extremely limited CS Booth17 glow versions that were available in Hong Kong only and limited to only 50 pieces of each glow colors making it one of the hardest figures to get. Now, in the holiday spirit, MINDstyle is giving everyone the chance to win a pair of both the hot pink and yellow versions as they prepare for our upcoming celebration with Michael Lau in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Simply email them a photograph of your best and favorite Michael Lau Gardener figure from over the past ten years. They're looking for the most interesting and creative imagery – open to all fans around the world. Email your entry to info@mindstyle.com.

MISFORTUNE CAT 'ORIGINAL' LETTERPRESS PRINT

"Printed II" @ Crewest Gallery 12/05/09

Next month, "Printed II" returns to Crewest gallery. Last year we experienced a frenzy for hand printed art. Prints on display during last years Printed exhibit were affordable and fun which drew people in to look at the art and to purchase the art. This year "Printed II" is going to be 10 times better. All participating artists have a solid background in the art of printing and are popular in the wheatpasting community. Two Rabbits, the curator, have been dazzling crowds with their fun prints all year at Crewest and other venues with their live printing. You should really see their bio.

John Dwyer Interview from Walrus TV

Artist, musician, and self-proclaimed "dirtbag" John Dwyer ain't afraid to get grimy. The frontman of San Francisco's Thee Oh Sees and a veteran of a few other noteworthy post-punk and noise bands, he's seen his fair share of dive bars and chaotic late nights, and even some medical near-disasters. Hectic and anecdotal, his artwork is inspired by everything from finding ways to cheat the system to childhood cartoons to barbecue. Watch the interview conducted by his friend and fellow artist Kottie Paloma, available for the first time to the public for free, from Walrus TV.

"GROUCHO" & "XAGU" from Alimana toys

Extracted of the pages of the comic “MUERTITO SABROSON” and brought to life by Alimana, is the really cool interpretation of their penguin zombie named "Groucho". This Zombie of vinyl stands 6” tall and has a removable brain, Edition limited 250 pieces, and retails for around $30, and you can snag one HERE now!

XAGU is a boy, a magical and playful being who enjoys to carry his mask and to conquer hearts of many. This piece is also limited to 250 pieces produced by Alimana, with 3 variants (yellow, red and DIY). This is a really cool looking figure and has a removable mask. The simplicity of his shape may be deceiving, but he does not fall short in attitude :-) The official release of this figure is December 1st, 2009, so keep your eyes peeled! No word on price yet either.

"Wack" Limited Edition Resin Toy Available Now!

This awesome, limited edition run of resin, is based on Brian Castleforte's original Tribalnots character, "Wack". Brian is going to be releasing an upcoming Iphone app titled "Wack in the Box", with "Wack being the main character. This resin piece stands 6" tall with the arms raised, and looks amazing on your desk or shelf, and even better in your hand. The arms are fully articulated with a really cool pin system, thanks to Julie B. of Pretty In Plastic, who also did all the sculpting! I got to see this figure in person at Designer Con and really dig it. I have been a fan of Brian's for a while now, and am happy to see his figures turn into something so awesome! Hello, Brute's Hoophy...

Jon Knox's aka Hello, Brute has just announced his new custom Hoophy, a collaboration with Shin Tanaka! It’s a paper toy that you can print at home and assemble yourself. Other artists for Hoophy include David Flores, Superdeux, David Horvath (Uglydolls), Skwak, Jon Burgerman, and Travis Lampe. Jon does a really nice job of using the whole character and this design works very well with this platform.
