EXC shirts available at Designer Con...

EXC tees created by Brian DiNonno who grew up and still lives in Queens, NY. Has been designing and illustrating (for a paycheck) for the past 7 yrs and draws inspiration from childhood memories of interest in art like the O.G. TMNT comics and "Eddie" from all the Iron Maiden albums and merchandise. Brian says that "It wasn't til I stumbled upon a portfolio of Hydro 74 and saw what you can do with illustrator, that I really got into working with the computer. I forced myself to learn illustrator and was able to take my art to that next level." With the help of artist DrilOne, Brian took on silkscreening and that is where his love for apparel creation began, and then later on in his life started his own clothing brand EXC.

We will have the two shirts, King Cobra and Annukai, from EXC available in limited quantities at Designer Con at the SpankyStokes booth #35, so stop by and grab one of these before they all sell out! All shirts are printed with fashion soft ink on Tultex combed ring spun cotton tees.

Black Market at Black Maria: Skip the Mall

Black Maria Gallery is pleased to announce the fifth annual, "Black Market at Black Maria: Skip the Mall" exhibition. As always, the exhibition will carry a bazaar theme, complete with some of the accoutrements of the shopping experience: paintings suspended on clothing hangers, displayed in shoe boxes and on display stands holding a variety of artworks.

Artists:
Adam Alaniz, Lydiaemily Archibald, Jan Beran, Julian Callos, Lucy Campbell, Grace Chee, Catia Chien, Katherine Chiu, Bryan Collins, Nanami Cowdroy, Steven Daily, Nicole Dreyfuss, Alexis Dubois, Lauren Gardiner, Jane Gotts, Kio Griffith, Tom Haubrick, Aaron Hitchcock, Michael Hsiung, Tyler Jeffers, Aaron Kraten, Benjamin Long, Danni Shinya Luo, Jon Measures, Minchi, Paul Nagel, Dany Paragouteva, Taylor Marie Prendergast, Noah Ptolemy, Shark Toof, Suso, and many more...

"Black Market" is quintessential Black Maria, showing the work of emerging artists and established artists side by side. It is a great opportunity to see work by artists with international collectors as well as by artists who will be showing their work outside of an academic environment for the first time. The idea is to both poke gentle fun at the cosmopolitan shopping experience and, on a serious note, remind ourselves of the spiritual rewards of appreciating and owning great art. In keeping with the shopping mall theme, patrons will also be able to take with them whatever they purchase, just as they would in a store.

A painting can be as satisfying as wearing a sexy dress or owning a feature-laden barbecue, except there is an actual, sometimes life-changing meaning waiting to be derived from a work of art. Hence the subtitle of the exhibition:Skip the Mall.

Buff Monster x Brushforhire customs

"Warning! The Scurve are coming! The invasion has begun. I have managed to capture a few of the beasts so that they may be studied. They are a parasitic organism that infects the host body. The host then begins to grow a mouth around the entire body. One of the other features are the huge eyes that the host body will develop. The host body is then driven by the need for a constant source of food, and no other motivation."

A limited run of blind box custom painted 1.5” buff monster toys created by Sean McAfee aka Brushforhire are totally rockin. They will be $40 each shipped in the U.S. and you can snag them HERE. Stefan Bucher's Daily Monster #55

Stefan is a super talented artist, and a super cool guy to boot! You can now follow all of his updates via his Twitter profile HERE, not on Twitter yet? Get a move on!

From Stefan's Blog:

Monster 55 is a weird one. I understand, of course, that all these monsters are a little bit weird almost by definition, but this one's weirder than most. It came out a little differently. It's a wild-eyed creature. Wild-eyed, but also strangely zoned out. Somehow I doubt that 57 holds down a job. Or lives a life within normal boundaries. What do you think? Is it of this Earth? Is it dangerous to you and me? How does it survive? How does it gather food? Are all of its kind just as strange as this one? Or is 55 simply a bad seed? Please take a minute and help us figure this one out...
