ADVENTURE QUEST DEADY 8" Qee

Voltaire (musician, toy designer and creator of the DEADY graphic novel series) has teamed up with one of the web's most popular massive multi-user online role-playing games to create one of the more exciting DEADY toys made to date, the ADVENTURE QUEST DEADY 8" Qee!

This Qee by Toy2R is the product of a unique collaboration. On Friday the 13th, March, 2009, Voltaire (in animated form) along with his evil teddy bear, DEADY, led a LIVE, 3-hour quest on the on-line game, Adventure Quest Worlds. Players who tuned in, followed Voltaire and Deady onto a haunted pirate ship, sailed across monster infected waters and landed on the shores of Skull Punch Island in search of a cursed guitar. And all the while, Voltaire sang songs from his latest CD, "To The Bottom of the Sea".

Adventure Quest creators, Artix Entertainment, expected 11 thousand players. They were prepared for 25 thousand. After an unprecedented 30 thousand-plus players logged on to this one-time event, the servers crashed! (Hey, what do you expect on Friday the 13th?) But within moments, Artix had the game up and running again. The event proved to be so popular, that is has been added as a permanent fixture in the game and can be played at any time at www.AQ.com. Another DEADY mini-game made by Artix can be played here: http://deadybear.net

The ADVENTURE QUEST DEADY 8" Qee comes in a full color box wrapped in gorgeous art from the Adventure Quest Worlds game!

PLUS!
Each box comes with a code that unlocks these items in game:
1) A digital Deady pet that follows you wherever you go in game!
2) Free downloads of the songs Voltaire sings in the quest!
3) And other "house" items players can use in the game.

At last it's finishedand what a handsome looking papertoy created by Thunder Panda! He made this papertoy as a riddle, yeappp… you have to decide which one to cut, which line to fold and which part to glue, and how to make him sing a song.

After its finished, you’ll love him, as he’ll ease your life's burdens, you can sing a song together, have a chit-chat about the cute neighbors, or you can share a listen to him your very-very-very updated i-tunes playlist, and listen to a very nice podcast together. yeap... even if he prefers to sing Julio Iglesias, but he respect your musical taste. STAR WARS TRADING CARD SHOW in NYC by SUCKADELIC

STAR WARS GALAXY 4
CUSTOM SKETCH CARD SHOW AND AUCTION!
OCTOBER 2 at APW GALLERY LONG ISLAND CITY NEW YORK 6 - 9 PM

What, you don't know what that is? Well earlier this year, TOPPS, yes TOPPS the venerable institution of American Trading cards asked me to curate a series of actual STAR WARS fucking trading cards. It was to be part of a new set called STAR WARS GALAXY, a series of art-based Star Wars cards. The batch that SuckLord organized were to be a ground-breaking (so he's told) series of die-cut sketch cards.

Sketch cards are all the rage in trading cards these days. What they are is blank trading cards that are distributed to professional artists to draw on. Then the actual drawings are blind packed in with the regular cards and the collectors go nuts trying to find them all. It's very exciting. The set SuckLord put together was a new direction for Topps for two reasons:

1) They are die-cut in the shape of Darth Vader and Stormtrooper helmets as opposed to the usual rectangles.

2) They asked SuckLord of all people to draw upon his stable of underground weirdos to do the drawings instead of their usual gang of established professionals. The results of this experimental effort yielded a wide ranging assortment of original, often abstract artwork that was actually quite a hit with the fringe groups who actually care about this stuff.

NOW, we have a huge sampling of these cards up for display and auction at APW gallery in Queens NYC. On October 2nd (this Friday) you are invited to come out, see the work, place some bids, and get a cool buzz going with more free beer from our pals at BEERLAO.

And there's more!

We got large, painting-size trading cards on display by some of the superstar artists from GALAXY 4, a handful of custom Sucklord figures, also by GALAXY 4 artists, and we will have have available for the first time, the new SUCKPAX Suckadelic indie art card series. This is a new series of retro style trading cards designed by the Sucklord himself. The packs are loaded with original sketch cards, mystery chase pieces and the promise of a "golden ticket," redeemable for a fantastic prize! Get in on the ground floor peoples!

This is gonna be pretty dope, bring some money or at least your bad self and get involved in the next Trading Card revolution. Sucklord running it, so you know it's gonna rule. Everything he does is awesome, you knew that... Go to the Suckadelic site, there you can link to a catalog of the artwork and get directions to the gallery.

Mike Giant interview from "Dithers"

"I was at a skate spot that we had been painting, and I ate shit, real bad and it shook the ground. And this kid I was skating with said, ‘Damn, you went down like a giant!’ That was it; I started writing Giant from then on out."
-Mike Giant

Mike Giant’s art is found on skateboards, walls, t-shirts, and even skin. Although found in different forms and venues, his signature black & white style holds true to the sense of urban surrealism often linked to the skateboard, tattoo and graffiti culture, while still being recognizably unique. Mike Giant’s art has been displayed in galleries from San Francisco, where he resides, to Los Angeles, Spain and Australia. He has also launched his own clothing line, Rebel 8, which highlights his work on everything from tees to hats. Watch the interview from “Dithers,” available for the first time to the public for free, on Walrus TV.
