RL-MECH 0809 custom by VISEone
VISEone just sent over some rad shots of his custom for the ROBOLUCHA show! This figure titled "RL-MECH 0809" is a very detailed custom that even has a miniture sitting in the figures head as the pilot, the attention to detail is rad, and you gotta love a mech with wings! VISEone says that the "RL-MECH 0809 is an old mecha that still defends the border to Naaru a city with survivors of the big mecha-war. He looks old, rusty and got shot a several times - but the mechanics of Naaru did a great job on 0809 so he still stands up and looks scary enough to impress his enemies." You can see more customs from this show HERE, and find other pictures via the Facebook page HERE

New handcrafted collectible figurine: Mimushi
In a world of vinyl, wood is king.
These wooden figurines designed and created by Blattke of Mimushi Design are meticulously crafted by hand, one by one. Although they have similarities, none of them looks the same as the next one, making each piece as unique as it gets. Due to its meticulous process and dedication, they are only able to produce up to 80 a month; to date only 119 have been produced, and now they have moved on to the next series.
Quantities, as you can see, are very limited, and unlike other limited editions, this is not deliberate; it’s just the nature of it. Whoever gets their hands on one of these, will enjoy a true collectible that very few people in the world will be able to have. Oh, and an added bonus: the box is a fine work of art in itself, and it looks fantastic! The detail in each and every one of these pieces is unreal and they are true pieces of art. If you are interested in picking one of these up you can hit up the store HERE, and be sure to CLICK THROUGH for much more info and pics about this truly limited designer figure!
About the Artist:
Unknown concept artist blattke is the creator of the mimushi character and his identities. After years of experience in the ad world, and while taking some art courses he saw a designer toy and quickly became an avid collector. Inspired on a childhood story of a clinical case he heard about a woman with a psychological disorder, he began cooking up ideas for a multiple personality character. Hence mimushi was born. blattke currently conceptualizes at his own studio, located in Miami, FL. He bike treks to his creative space each day (a 10-mile joyride).
Character Story:
Mimushi is a 3-year-old character imported somewhere from Asia who was adopted by parents who up until now are unaware of his multiple, -and ever multiplying personalities. So far he has only exteriorly experienced his many facets (in vinyl), but this new series is the most haunting of all: the Dauntless Gatekeepers. This squadron of fearless sumo warriors lives in his brain, opening and closing the doors between his endless embodiments. They choose who to let out and who to let in. They hold part of the key that might one day set him free.
Process:
The intricate handicraft process of creating the “Dauntless Gatekeepers” series implies several techniques: wood carving and wheat straw veneering. First the wood is brought in from deep Amazon forest plantations. In order to carve the wood it needs to be humid, and as the process moves along, the wood starts drying. A piece of wood is cut to the approximate size of the figurine, then some basic straight cuts are created using carving tools or other carving elements to give its true form, and fine detail. By barely touching the object and using a drawing pencil, the motif is drawn on each wooden object. Once the figure is obtained, its outline is cut out in order to paste it onto the piece. We then carry out small cutouts to delineate the drawing, and then apply a very thin film of lacquer. Process Wood Carving & Veneering with Wheat Straw Wheat straw is opened using a scalpel and then leveled completely with a river stone.
Afterwards, it is carefully pasted –stalk-by-stalk– over a tissue paper, until a plate is formed. Tincture may vary from raw to burnt look, creating different tonalities that highlight parts of the design, and heated at different levels to darken it. The decorative sheathing is obtained using an inlaying technique with the previously sanded and painted wheat straw by applying very thin layers over the wood, and paying meticulous attention to the steady hold of the veneer and the conservation of the figurines. The brightness and colors of this luxurious ornamentation produce exciting new effects on the decoration of traditionaland contemporary settings.

Eco Friendly:
By using sustainable forest techniques, the wood used for our products is renewable organic material. This means that the processed wood we obtain is already being replaced by natural processes at an equal or faster rate than it is being consumed, and it is harvested in a sustainable manner so as to affect earth and nature as least as possible. On top of that, the veneering process increases the amount of usable wood, as veneers are cut as thin as 1/40 of an inch! A tiny amount of wood is exhausted in the process, improving the yield of the wood and diminishing the
exhaustion of the resource.
