"Mutation" art show at Black Maria Gallery in LA

Right after the BIC Buddy release we ran into Ryan Crippen aka Reactor88 and he informed us of a show at Black Maria Gallery titled "Mutation", so we packed up our things and made the 15min drive to this gallery, and we were glad that we did. Ryan was actually on hand to talk to us about the process in which he created his MAD*l for the show.

This show had a ton of awesome customs for well known artists such as: 64 Colors, Bryan Collins, Button Eyes, Camden Noir, Draifet, Jeremiah Ketner, Kalypzo, Kat Brunnegraff, Kendra Binney, Kill Taupe, Motorbot, Mark Basa, Nathan Hamill, Okedoki, Podgy Panda, Reactor 88, Rosie O’Donnell, Shaun Wightman, TyleR & Zombie Monkie.

The atmosphere was great, and people were coming in and out of the gallery, and we actually got there right at closing time, so I am sure when it opened there were a ton of people, and from the looks of it alot of the pieces sold, so that is a good thing! Be sure to watch the above video, and CLICK THROUGH for a ton of photos that were taken in the gallery!

*ON SITE* BIC Buddy Release LA

SpankyStokes.com was on hand to capture the release of the awesome new mini-figure vinyl series titled "BIC Buddy: Series One" designed by Marka27 and released through BIC Plastics. This was hosted by Man One at Crewest Gallery in LA, and on hand were a bunch of artists that were involved with the series including Jesse Hernandez, Ritzy Periwinkle, David Flores, and Marka27 who were all signing their figures, hitting up a live canvas, and chopping it up with all of their fans!

The turn out was great and the blind boxes were flying from the shelves, in fact not sure how many full cases they had on hand but by the time I left there was only one case left, and that one had been picked at, so these figures were hot. It seems like the hot ticket to pull was Ritzy Periwinkles, and the chase figures as well. The only chase that was pulled to my knowledge was MAD's which is a GID version of his character, which I was able to trade for, and btw there was a ton of trading going on, it was cool to see people in that kind of mood, and for the most part a good sized crowd stuck around for the majority of the event!

Families and friends of the artists were on hand, looking to pull the right "Buddy". David Flores sister was looking for her brothers piece and was unsuccessful until Palmetto gave her a dupe that he had, and then I did the same for David, I pulled his twice and gave him the dupe. It was kinda humerus because none of the artists on hand had actually seen their final pieces, and they did not have one for themselves either. This was an awesome event, and the turnout was great, a huge thanks to Man One of Crewest Gallery for hosting this event, and to all the artists and fans that showed, this was an amazing night! Be sure to watch the video above and CLICK THROUGH for a whole photo slideshow of the event!
