Well it looks like this custom show is going to be HUGE, and will include a large number of participants! Tenacious Toys has mailed out around 80 bombs, all over the world! The talent ranging from amateur or up & coming artists to veteran toy customizers! They even had a few companies contact them to participate: Rivetal, which is a design agency in Utah, bought 20 bombs right away to give out to all employees to customize. Cool team-building exercise, right? Also, some guys from Good Guys, the hot rod organization, will be participating in the show. Delicious Drips and Tenacious Toys have also created a special section for the Custom Bombs on the Tenacious Toys website, they have a few bombs as teasers already in the Custom Bomb section so you can see what the item listing will look like. The guys over at Plastic Booty have begun Pre-Orders for blanks of THOR! Two different presentations at what they believe to be reasonable prices, and I think they are great prices! They made some major improvements for the better in an effort to keep the cost down. With that being said PB is doing a test run of 25 blanks. Of those 25 you can choose either:
Version 1: Bagged and tagged, un-assembled blank for $50 Version 2: Assembled, cleaned, primed, custom boxed blank for $65
Above are some great pre-production shots of the new/improved THOR, and as you can see, extensive surgery has prepared THOR V1 for a new life. The steel balls are for a more solid registration, and the figure will also include some tension pins so his arms are nice and strong!
There is a little bit of help needed from the toy community though, PB can't proceed with Production of THOR until they get a minimum of Pre-Orders in, times are tough and the funds are just not there for the supplies needed, so if you are interested, check out the full details on their blog. Unfortunately there is a bit of a distance barrier between San Francisco and San Diego which did not allow me to attend the opening of this show, but thanks to DrilOne, he snapped some great pictures for us, and from the looks of it the atmosphere was electric and the show looked amazing! Daniel Seifert aka Attaboy presented “Antidote”, a solo show at 1:AM SF gallery. The show included recent works that represent a swarm of his latest art in unlikely mediums. His imagination has been carved out by intricate detailed stencil paintings on plastic that project shadows, hyper-unrealistic color pencil drawings, hand painted resin cast sculptures, and an infestation of fungus style paintings. In addition, he will display a five piece plastic sculpture installation that he collaborated with sculptor J.Shea. Oh and you can't forget the loveable Gooberry which was on hand to lighten the mood :-)
The pieces are simply awesome, I love how Atta' painted on large pieces of acrylic, this lends to an amazing fell for all the pieces giving them an almost 3D look as the light bounces through the "canvas" and created shadow forms on the wall, really cool! There were a ton of people on hand including artist Alex Pardee and fellow blogger Scott from Laughing Squid! The new Silent Stage x Jesse Hernandez print features two of Jesse's characters battling it out for victory. Once framed or hung, you can flip the print upside down depending on which character you would like to be on top winning. The Giclee' print will measure 16" x 20" on museum archival paper, edition of only 33 & will retail for $100 each. This cool print will also celebrate the release of the new BIC Buddy series featuring Jesse Hernandez. The colors and design on this print are so dope, Jesse killed it with this one for sure!
