This website is about any and everything that sparks the creative genius in all of us. By profession I am a Graphic Designer, and enjoy all aspects of design. From traditional to urban from resin to vinyl, these are all great mediums and deserve to be explored. On top of that everything from music to movies from guns to graffiti.
The mystery of nightfall creeps into the work of Kelly Vivanco & Jason Limón presenting us with the elusive nocturnal creatures and characters that often flutter by unnoticed. If you have plans this Friday July, 31st, change them! Kelly & Jason have come together to create one of the nicest shows that Subtext has ever had the pleasure of showing, so you’ll really want to see this in person. If your not familiar with these brilliant artists, Erratic Phenomena did a great interview with Kelly & Jason about the show here.
Subtext will also have live music by Pretty Too Bad in the courtyard thanks to our friends at Sezio. So, come support the San Diego art scene at Subtext this Friday. Hope to see you there!

Today the Infectious team welcomes into the catalog some mighty cute art from Mimoco.com, our MIMOBOT designer USB flash drive maker friends. MIMOscape and Fairybit Fairybot are designs featuring Mimoco's Core Series MIMOBOT characters - fiendish memory storing aliens from the Planet Blõôh. These MIMOgrants have previously been adopted and re-imagined by artists like FriendsWithYou, Jon Burgerman and Gary Baseman. Now they are ready to frolic across (and protect) your iPhone for a mere $14.99.
Stay tuned for the second half of their exciting collaboration with Mimoco - in the middle of August they will be launching a design challenge where artists are invited to create their own MIMOBOT character. The winning design will receive $1000 and be produced as a future run of MIMOBOT USB flash drives. FriendsWithYou will be their guest judges. Whoop!
Ritzy Periwinkle is one of those amazing artist where her work and her personality really light up the room they are in, and I had the pleasure to meet and chat with her at this years Comic-Con! In the video Ritzy talks about how she became involved with BIC Plastics and more importantly how she was chosen to be apart of the new mini-series of vinyl toys called "BIC Buddy". She is such an amazing person, and her art is fantastic, so take some time to watch the video!
Ritzy’s design shows off the wings accessory, adding a new dimension to the standard figure shape. She says “I only had a couple of days to create two design options for BIC Plastics,” explains Ritzy. “The chosen design was inspired by my experiences of Dia De Los Muertos in Oaxaca, Mexico, as well as the ongoing struggles of women all over the world, the revolutionary acts we commit on the daily and the incredible strength of my mom, who passed away 14 years ago.” The Bic Buddy figures will be distributed in the USA by DKE toys and in Taiwan by Pixie.
Also to note that there is going to be 3 release parties for this series. Starting August 15 Bic Plastics will have 3 Releases in 3 Major Cities. If you're in L.A, N.Y or Chicago come out and meet the artists!

If you were unable to make it to Comic-Con, and in my case make it to the preview of this movie (ugggg) Daniel Zana, creator of The Vinyl Frontier, just posted up the very same clip that he showed to the elite crowd that were fortunate enough to see this, and now you can. This movie is a really in depth look at the world of designer toys, and the artists involved!
Bobby version 2 drops today, Friday, July 31st at 1pm (pacific time) in the Hello, Brute online shop. This is the second color variant of Bobby, and he's packaged in a clear zip bag, and signed on the bottom of his foot. Includes a signed 4" x 5.5" sketch and a 1-inch Bobby button!
Bobby is sculpted, cast, and painted by Jon Knox in his studio, so seeing as he is hand made there may be some minor imperfections. Jon also notes that you should drop by his shop form time to time. Every once in a while he will release something special without an announcement, tricky, tricky! This version of Bobby is selling for $60, so move fast on this because it is super limited!
