Art Asylum Boston will be dropping Joshua Budich’s “Dean” print this coming Monday, July 13th. No time specified, so I’m assuming that the whole day is fair-game. Anyway, people who wish to purchase the print can email sales@artasylumboston.com (first come basis), “Dean” is an 18 x24 inch, two color screenprint on cream-matte paper, signed and numbered edition of ONLY 45 prints. Which turned out awesome I might add, also check out Joshua's site HERE for more amazing work!
The great thing about purchasing the print via Art Asylum Boston is that proceeds from the sale of the print will go to benefit my Joshua's favorite charity, "The Kokua Hawaii Foundation"

Hailing from the Land of the Rising Sun and the fertile imagination of artist Riri Fukuju comes TOFFEE…a mix of both human and animal attributes in a being unto themselves. The inaugural limited edition series of TOFFEE dolls by Huckleberry are making their debut at the 2009 San Diego Comic Con. Available at select fine retailers in August, the TOFFEE dolls are a plush, mixed medium doll that is meticulously hand-made with special attention to details in hand painting the facial expression, hand applying the hair, sewing the body and outfit. Each doll is articulated with 5 poseable joints (neck, legs and arms) and are hand numbered limited editions. The TOFFEE dolls also come with doll stands, certificates of authenticity and custom designed backdrop dioramas that can be displayed with the dolls.
In celebrating the inaugural series of TOFFEE dolls, Huckleberry has created three limited TOFFEE’s for summer conventions they are attending around the world. The first of these very limited dolls is HELLBOY™ FAN TOFFEE…a different twist on a much beloved character….taken from the inspiration of Mike Mignola’s comic artwork, HELLBOY™ FAN Toffee embodies something many a fan can relate to….dressing up in their own unique style to emulate a character they love. HELLBOY™ FAN TOFFEE is limited to 500 pcs.
The second summer convention exclusive is WITCHIEPOO TOFFEE. From the wildly fantastic and out of this world minds of Sid & Marty Krofft came the classic children’s television show H.R.PUFNSTUF in 1969. How can anyone forget that wicked laugh of Billie Haye’s Withciepoo and her quest to get her hands on Freddy the Flute from do-gooders Jimmy and Pufnstuf. WITCHIEPOO TOFFEE comes with a hand signed certificate of authenticity by creators Sid Krofft, Marty Krofft and actress Billie Hayes and is limited to 300 pcs.
The final summer convention exclusive is a TOFFEE original…JESSICA. JESSICA TOFFEE is limited to 300 pcs. The inaugural series of TOFFEE dolls and summer convention exclusives will go on sale July 3, 2009 at www.huckleberrytoys.com while supplies last. TOFFEE creator Riri Fukuju will also be on hand to meet fans and sign dolls at the Huckleberry booth # 4449 during the San Diego Comic Con.
Sjoerd Jorritsma just sent over his most recent pictures of his designer wood toy the "Z-KEN". There is still no set release date, and they are working on pricing and are thinking at this moment that the Z's will be €30 for a DIY and €50 for a graphic one. Check out our previous post on this collectible HERE, and keep checking back for more info!
Michael Tesch take us on a deep dive with his piece Manowar's Curse, which was originally created to highlight the plight of marine life. Bravo as well to Mike Karolos and his cryptic security camera meets seagull artwork Go... Freestyle and also to artist NiBru and her self-described "yummy space graphic" design surfin space.
In preparation for their upcoming joint-show at Galerie d'Art Yves Laroche in Montreal, artists Chris Ryniak and Jonathan Bergeron, in association with Bigshot Toyworks, invite you to speculate on the nature of "Misfortunate Travelers", their first collaborative work. The piece will be available at Galerie d'Art Yves Laroche at the show opening, with alternate versions to be released at a later date. Check out the last post about his project HERE! This piece of work will stand approximately 7" tall, and will be available at the show opening at Yves Laroches, as well as in limited quantities at the upcoming San Diego Comic Con.
Their exhibition, "Gardens of Misfortune", opens July 29th at Galerie d'Art Yves Laroche. Established in 1991, Galerie d'art Yves Laroche provides art lovers with a thought provoking alternative in beautiful Montreal, Canada. Housed by Yves Laroche, the urban gallery thrives on the showcasing of work by established and emerging underground and cutting edge graffiti, tattoo, comic, pop, illustration and surrealist artists.
Image of actual toys snagged courtesy of Andy from ToysR'Evil, he is always finding great shots of products and does a fantastic job promoting the arts, so go check his site out! Chris Ryniak is a Cleveland-based artist who lives in a Dutch Colonial with his wife, two children, multiple skulls, and (sadly) no ghosts. He does, however, have a hidden burial chamber in his backyard. Jonathan Bergeron is a Montreal-based artist and illustrator who likes to paint with extreme music in the background but also enjoys a walk in the park with his wife and son. Bigshot Toyworks is world-reknowned for the quality of their work, their ability to create the unexpected, and their track record for producing the unproduceable.

A peek at the upcoming design documentary "Objectified", by Gary Hustwit, the director of "Helvetica". The trailer features the voices of Jonathan Ive, Andrew Blauvelt, Marc Newson, and Karim Rashid. The song is "I Like Van Halen Because My Sister Says They Are Cool" by El Ten Eleven.
Come Watch Objectified and Participate in Post-film Q&A with Gary Hustwit AIGA San Diego & Gary Hustwit Present, Objectified. Objectified is a feature-length documentary about our complex relationship with manufactured objects and, by extension, the people who design them. Its a look at the creativity at work behind everything from toothbrushes to tech gadgets. It's about the designers who re-examine, re-evaluate and re-invent our manufactured environment on a daily basis. Its about personal expression, identity, consumerism, and sustainability. Through vérité footage and in-depth conversations, the film documents the creative processes of some of the worlds most influential product designers, and looks at how the things they make impact our lives. What can we learn about who we are, and who we want to be, from the objects with which we surround ourselves? Following the screening will be an after party at SUBTEXT with a live performance by El Ten Eleven from the films soundtrack.
Objectified premieres at film festivals and events worldwide starting this March, more info here: http://www.objectifiedfilm.com
