3D Sketchbot MAD*l video by Steve Talkowski
Sketchbot DIY MadL from Steve Talkowski on Vimeo.
Above is a RAD 3d rendering of a project that Steve Talkowski aka Sketchbot started out as a proof-of-concept for setting up the Sketchbot blinking eye rig(watch the video, you'll understand). Steve continues to say "I haven't started to rig up the bot itself, and thought I'd apply the animated texture map to a 3d MAD*L that I cranked out. I've been in a 3d customizing mode the past week, and figured I'd explore my first MAD*L concept. Possible candidate for the next artist series?" Sure Steve is saying this in some jest, but for real, it would be an awesome production MAD*L, and that video is really cool.

DC Launches Gymkhana TWO video
First off let me start by saying I am not too into cars, or this whole "Fast n' the Furious" thing, but after watching this I was giddy like a little school girl, er' boy, this is an amazing video that captures so much emotion and raw tallent, it blew me away! DC officially launches Ken Block’s first-ever TeamWorks Collection on June 1st with the best infomercial ever—introducing the Gymkhana TWO video. Riding on the success of the first Gymkhana Practice video that grabbed the attention of over 20 million viewers worldwide, the high-performance video and Block’s complete TeamWorks Collection will be live at www.dcshoes.com/gymkhanatwo.
Created to honor Block for all of his achievements, the collection features two pairs of shoes, a reversible windbreaker, T-shirt, sweatshirt and hat. Block’s design inspirations for his collection all stem from his Gymkhana TWO car, and each feature his rally sponsors’ colorways and graphics. When given the opportunity to work on a project that reflects his personality as an athlete, he looked at patterns, logos, colors and materials and created his own hand drawn DC logo “Block” print. The print was originally used on his race car, and then was transferred onto both of his shoe models, the Block Spartan High and Block Manteca 3.
Relying on Block’s expertise behind the wheel of a rally car as the cornerstone, the Gymkhana TWO video takes infomercials to the next level. Unlike other infomercials, this one sells the products with great action, cinematography, and a dramatic driving performance—and, no stereotypical cheesy infomercial pitchman. Produced specifically to market Block’s first-ever Rally TeamWorks Collection, the new video is filled with great driving stunts, surprises, explosions, and a guest appearance from DC team rider, Rob Dyrdek. Filmed at the Port of Los Angeles, expect non-stop motor sport eye-candy as Block hits the all-new course in a custom tuned, high performance, and brand-new Subaru Impreza WRX STI.
The new 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STI was custom built by Crawford Performance to the unique specifications of Block. Created specifically for this new gymkhana video project, Crawford custom built this new car to the unique driving conditions of gymkhana. The car features high-power performance modifications, including BFGoodrich g-Force KDW tires, tons of custom and unique parts, lots of carbon fiber, and has a custom graphics package and body mods for a unique and striking look.
The gymkhana project started off with the first Gymkhana Practice video that was put on kenblockracing.com, dcshoes.com, youtube.com, streetfire.net, shredordie.com and vimeo.com with little promotion and became an instant viral success in all circles, capturing over 20 million viewers to date in six short months. Encouraged by this success Block and DC decided to up the ante by elevating the driving and production level in the second video, Gymkhana TWO.
Gymkhana – jim-kah-nuh — is an automotive sport that takes place on an open tarmac area such as a parking lot or old airfield, and requires drivers to push their limits of car control and unlock their true abilities while skillfully maneuvering their cars around a series of cones, slaloms, 180-degree turns, 360-degree turns, figure eight turns or other obstacles using extreme acceleration, braking, and drifting.
