Night Walkers by Kat Brunnegraff

Here are some awesome customs by Kat Brunnegraff...this series is titled "Night Walker" and as you can tell this style can be applied to any size and shape of toy imaginable...and look truly amazing! Kat says that the Night Walkers are known for "Walking across the sky they bring the night for everyone to enjoy. Their eyes are the moon and they watch over us all." Kinda creepy cool at the same time :-) These all turned out amazing and actually fall in line with the custom Illazilla she did a few months back (posted HERE). Check Kat's site HERE for availability, but act fast because they are going to sell out quickly!

BEit Dude @ ToyQube *PREVIEWS*

Hot off the heels of my last post I received some preview pics for the upcoming show at Toyqube...and might I say they all look AMAZING. The top pic is a custom by Lou Pimentel titled "Fusion" who is a vintage robot that was living in a cardboard box out in a barn out in the country. During a mean thunderstorm the barn was hit and that sparked some life into this old Bot! The bottom left is Nakanari's work titled "Mai Hiro" who has the look of an urban thug ready to smash you with his large mallet and the last custom is by Brent Nolasco his is titled "Hypnotize" and for good reason...don't stare into those eyes for too long.

All of these turned out so great, and I am really looking forward to the rest of them now...for more info on this event visit the Toyqube site, or hit the jump HERE to my last post on this awesome custom show!

Huck Gee 20" Skullhead Dunny?

I felt this would be a good post following the last one because they do kinda go hand in hand...Huck posted a picture of an official looking box from Kidrobot right next to his latest run of custom Skullbunny Munny's, and as you can very well tell that is a HUGE box and by the Dunny pic in the upper left hand corner and by the kanji figure(same figure as what he places on hhis customs) in the middle I can only assume that this is going to be an official 20"Skullhead Dunny, nothing confirmed as of yet, but it seems pretty obvious...what do you all think?

Kenn Munk's "The See"

London based Kenn Munk's current exhibition in Ųhus, Denmark The See features illustration/graphic design based on tourism, optical illusion and a modernised form of Shinto.

For those not familiar with shinto, it is the Japanese idea that every tree, rock and river and so on has a soul. Kenn takes this further as he knows that his computer and the lock to his front door definitely have souls too. The Denmark show focuses on a small part of the story; The empty souls that is applied or superficial beauty whose sole purpose is purely aesthetic - the colour of your car, your nose piercing and the small sprig of parsley on your gigantic steak.

The show was originally running from 3rd - 29th April, but has been extended to 29th May and the private view was essentially a two-hour celebration of sight and sights, with interactive mapping, paper masks, little flags - things the sole purpose of which is to look good - including beer goggles. For more pics and info visit Ken's Flickr and website, and this looks like an awesome event, make it out if you can!

SHINGANIST - A Group Show Curated by Usugrow

FIFTY24SF Gallery Presents :SHINGANIST:
A Group Show Curated by Usugrow

Opening Reception: Thursday, May 7, 2009 from 7-9 P.M.

In anticipation of his imminent clothing line release with Upper Playground on August 1, and in celebration of his new book "Shiganist," Usugrow has rallied the bookís contributors to action. Together, these five artists are taking over the walls of the FIFTY24SF Gallery and tearing down the house. True to the meaning behind Shinganî - those who create based on visions spurred by the mindís eye and those who are not affected by the opinions and expectations placed on them by the outside world - USUGROW, MOZYSKEY, TOSHIKAZU NOZAKA, BENE and JUN KANEKO are driven by the pure passion to create.

The work being presented on May 7th is a testament to those who live life for the love of art. From body art to street art, these young men have explored every aspect of the creative world. They have fought passionately for the right to express what the mindís eye has shown them and have succeeded at every turn. Encumbered by the weight of societal expectations, they defy the prescribed life path and valiantly pursue the life of the Shinganist. Bringing us art born from passion, a harmonious blend of various cultureís aspects absorbed over time that still reflects a style inherent to Japan, this show will be one of a kind.

Usugrow started drawing in 1993 for various hardcore metal bands, hip-hop groups, album covers, merchandise, clothing brands, shops, skate companies, whatever. He is based in Japan and his black and white illustrations are instantly recognizable, combining calligraphy with his drawings.

Usugrow is a leader and an icon for many involved in the art community and the FIFTY24SF gallery is more than pleased to host, SHINGANIST opening May 7, 2009 from 7 to 9 PM.

"Exudeus & Effuseus" custom Munny's by Derek Kiser

Here are some awesome custom Munnies that were sent my way from Tim Schafer who represents an artist by the name of Derek Kiser...these are some pretty well done customs and right when I saw them really deserved to be posted for the world to see.

Brief history on the Munny's:
These custom Munny's are based on the comic book Monupalar (mon-oop-alar); which is in production and slighted for a 2010 release. Effuseus and Exudeus, a team of two, are corporate workers hired to clean up atmospheres that's continually polluted by The Thrak'n. The helmets they wear allow them to filter the dark black smoke that flows out of the Thrak’s head.

The pollutant’s are sucked in through the top of Effuseus and Exudeus's helmets, cleaned and then clean, breathable air is shot out the sides. Any excess is quickly turned into sand and dispearsed onto the ground. Both of these are for sale at $75 each, if you are interested Contact: tschafer52@gmail.com

About the artist:
Derek Kiser is an Art Director/illustrator who received his Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the Design Architecture Art & Planning program (DAAP) at the University of Cincinnati.
