Lets take the time to get to know Paul Shih! Paul Shih is a awesome New Zealand based artist and also a great friend of mine! Paul's work ranges from Posters, toys, and clothing! This guy is one of the nicest dudes you will ever meet, so heres a little look into the mind of Paul Shih! 1. How did you get into the type of art you are doing now? uh this is going to be a long story haha, making it short, i'm into drawings since a kid, took art related classes whenever i could, i used to do a lot of painting and photography, and in my graduation project, i decide to come up something different, combining both illustration and photography techniques, i like artwork that tells story, and one of the best way to do that is film or video, when I'm developing the style, I kept referring to stage shows, trying to bring that idea into paper, thats pretty much how it came from, and i'm calling it 'paper diorama
2. What are some things that influence your type of art? anything and everything, people i've met, music i listen to, toys i bought, stuff on tv, a word, a shape....list goes on
3. What do you think of the term "Low Brow"? i don't know, i don't like to classify art, neither do i care about people labeling low/high brow or fine art, anything from museum, gallery or street are just the same, there are only cool art and boring art to me.
4. What are some things you like to do on your free time? some basketball, some video games, music, and always hunting for good foods hehehe...
5. Do you have a place where you can go just to get away from the stress of the world? does that place even exist? if anyone know such place, please let me know! anyways, i find traveling, change air definitely helps, i spent quite sometime in asia last year, visited tokyo, taipei, hong kong, and when i'm back in nz, i feel fresh again!
p.s.i found this vitamin b 'stress formula' in supermarket the other day, i'm taking it everyday, and it seems to work?! it's official my happy drug lol
6. What can the world be expecting from Paul Shih in the Near future? ummm right now i'm working on a new toy, theres a new line of tees dropping in summer, some ideas for new artwork, a bit of everything really! oh ya, me and my mate peap also planing on some project together, should be fun! :-)
Well there it is folks, a exclusive look into the creative mind of Paul Shih! Show Paul some love and check out his Flickr, Myspace, and Website! Drop him a line, he is one of the nicest guys you will ever come across!

In this week’s edition of Walrus TV, graffiti legend SLICK tells us how he earned his name while he was in Catholic school. SLICK was a troublemaker as a kid, and it was his penchant for vandalism that actually lead him to art school. Ironically, he stumbled into his crew while at Otis Parson in Los Angeles. SLICK showcased his talent in the streets, and like many artists, has seamlessly made the transition into the gallery. He’s had a long career and his art has been shown everywhere from films, album covers and music videos. Learn more about SLICK on Walrus TV.

Always wanted a car and a free toy at the same time? Well you should have made it out to your nearest KidRobot retailer on Sunday the 19th, for a chance to grab a free Munny Mobile and join the decorating party!
I was lucky enough to drop by my nearest KidRobot retailer in San Francisco! On the other hand I was unlucky enough to be one of the few who came too late for a free munny mobile. So they ran out, big deal! These things are so fun that I went ahead and bought one anyways. I mean at a price for around $15, you really get your moneys' worth...or should I say Munny's worth? Not only did KidRobot retailers give away Munny Mobiles' but they also set up tables for the lucky groups to customize their new toys. Here are a few photos to give you a little glimpse of what you missed if you did not make it to a retailer...and may be, just may be you could feel like you were there!
“30 CUSTOMS BY 30 ARTISTS: An Auction to benefit the Children of Cambodia” is the first step in trying to help the children that have impacted my life. After traveling to Cambodia last year I fell in love with the people of that country. Everyday I think about the amazing children I met and how I could help them. Most of these children lack the necessities of food, clothing, shoes, and transportation. Many can't even afford the pencils and notebooks they need to attend school. So instead of attending class they sell trinkets at the temples in order to survive.
I have reached out to 30 of my friends and asked them to create a custom toy specifically for this auction. Every cent from the sale of these customs will go directly to help the children I have met in Cambodia. With the help of people that I have met in Cambodia, I will be delivering clothing, shoes, books, paper, pens, and bicycles to children of Siem Reap villages. It has been a passion and a dream of mine to use art as a way of helping children and communities all over the World, and I am excited about this first step.
Available now on eBay are one-of-a-kind custom works from: 123KLAN, Alex Pardee, Andrew Bell, Beast Brothers, Brian Morris, DEPH, DEVILROBOTS, FILTH, Gary Baseman, ILoveDust, Jime Litwalk, Joe Capobianco, Joe Ledbetter, Jon Burgerman, MAD, Maze23 Brooklyn, Mori Chack, Nathan Jurevicius, Pon, SEEN, Shawnimals, Sket One, SourBones, TADO, Tara McPherson, TILT, Tim Biskup, Triclops Studios, Urban Medium, and Christian Jacobs of YoGabbaGabba! You can see pictures of all the customs HERE!
I am very excited about this opportunity to help people that have impacted me so much. I hope that you find a custom you love and bid! If you are interested in helping in any way I am not only looking for monetary donations- If you can provide clothing, notebooks, papers, or pens that would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to email me at toybaroness@gmail.com.
