Kelien figures from Kel - Custom Resin's

I was fortunate enough to run across some awesome custom resin figures while browsing my twitter feed. Kel Wilson aka kel7alpha on twitter has been posting alot of his progress as he makes his own line of custom resin figures. He says that he has been doing customs for a few years now but they have mostly all been Stikfas(Check out all of his awesome custom Stikfas HERE), but that well is drying up so he tried a bit of vinyl here and there, until a friend "accidentally"(how does this happen?) introduced him to resin casting. and long story short here are the results.

His mold making process

He says that he is now working on a four part group of figures called Keliens (pun intended, heheh) two male, a female and a robot. His intentions for this are to make these for a DIY type figure that blends vinyl and action figures into one.

I am really diggin the shape of these, and that there are going to be 4 in the series is really cool. I like seeing artist take what they know and make something of it...really great to see all the resing being made out there as well, more and more are showing up every day it seems like, and this seems to be a part of the resin revolution! Stay tuned for more updates on this awesome series of figures!

Walrus TV Artist Feature: David Choe

David Choe Part 1 of 3 - "Learning Spraypaint"

David Choe Part 2 of 3 - "Techniques of Warfare"

David Choe 3/3 "Power of Prayer"

David Choe 3-Part Interview
Upper Playground Presents Dirty Hands: The Art and Crimes of David Choe

David Choe is a favorite amongst all of us here at Upper Playground. We have witnessed his progression as an artist over the years, through his recurrent involvement with the company. In this 3-part interview series by Walrus TV, David Choe shares his thoughts from everything on how he got his start using spray paint, to his diverse techniques of warfare. These short form interviews give you a glimpse of the man behind the art, and the cleverness you witness as he speaks becomes amplified when viewed in the context of his masterful paintings.

The Walrus TV interviews are a taste of what’s to come in the upcoming viewing of Upper Playground Presents - Dirty Hands: The Art and Crimes of David Choe. In this award winning film, Choe’s hard work and radical antics have been recorded by Harry Kim, who follows David Choe's trail, documenting eight years of mayhem and artistic awesomeness. The film helps to express Choe's unwillingness to grow up, his struggle to make it as an artist and his fight to hold on to his sanity for his life and burgeoning art career. The film is part of the San Francisco Asian American Film Festival and Bay Area residents can enter to win two sets of tickets to the film from Upper Playground.

BIC Plastics...what do they have up their sleeve?

Alright so BIC Plastics is teasing us once again, and really making us work to figure out what their next project will be. The original teaser is posted with the Green BICS lettering, and then posted below with the Red BICS lettering is their most recent...except the gave it to us backwards and upside down, but with a little flip and jostle...the reveal!(Click pic to make bigger!)

Check out all the artists involved in this project:
MAD, Marka27, Brandt Peters, Kathie Olivas, Cope2, kaNO, Jesse Hernandez, Scribe, Andrew Bell, Sket, Indie84, Angry Woebots
What do they have up their sleeve this time, I guess we will just have to wait and see. We can still speculate though, maybe a mini-figure series like Vivisect Playset, or it could be a new platform toy and BIC signed up all these artist to do designs on them...like I said earlier time will tell, but in the meantime what do you all think?
