Stefan Bucher's Daily Monster #125

From Stefan's Blog:

You posted some excellent stories for last week's monster, and I hope you'll tell me a little bit more about this one, too. You know that this one's got a colorful background. And a colorful future, I'm sure. Don't hold back! Do please share your thoughts on the matter:
Sorry for the "Happy holidays" part of the video, i decided to post these from the end to the finish so it is going to have weird messages like that now and again, but the art is what it is about...so ENJOY!

Sorry for the bad video, but that is all that is out there, and I think it is good enough to show how BADICLE this is going to be...way better than the first(crossing fingers)! Thanks fro the heads up "The Garry"

You got... Silly Hat!

I am a sucker for good packaging. I know, I know, it's what's inside that counts. But as I progress through my Graphic Design journey I continue to be more and more impressed with the way artists can devise such cool packaging for products. There are quite a bit of good examples for great packaging, but while I'm on a little video game fix I figured I would share this with you guys. Here is some sweet retro packaging for the recently released MegaMan 9 game from Capcom:
I love the fact that this game release is a completely retro incarnation. This is not a remake. This is not just one of the old Mega Man classics like Mega Man 3 re-released. This is a brand new game with the 8-bit difficulty and goodness intact. I think it's cool that even though this game was released download only (for the Wii, Xbox 360, and PSN), CAPCOM went to some great lengths to make some sweet packaging. Unfortunately, it's not available to the public. Nonetheless, do you dig it as much I do?

SUBTEXT - LOST AT SEA

Lost at Sea
New Works by CJ Metzger & Miss Mindy
October 10th - November 9th, 2008 @ Subtext

Plunge into a world of mermaids, sea nymphs, and other marine creatures at Subtext Gallery's exhibition of new works by CJ Metzger and Miss Mindy. The Artist Sisters paint an under-water world of wonder inspired by Mother Nature. Through whimsy, humor, and satire the paintings and drawings introduce themes of harmony, chaos, and ecology. CJ and Mindy draw the audience into a utopia where humans and Earth are in balance, where beauty and comedy intersect in a poignant tribute to our fragile existence. The body of work draws an analogy between the oceans' ever-changing waters and the ebb and flow of earthly life - an existence that vacillates between turbulence and calm, from wild currents to the doldrums. The paintings ask the audience to explore its relationship with the natural world and to evaluate the deep waters within each of us. Do we control our earthly fates, or are we all just Lost at Sea?
